For people like me who love to see a good fight, today is freaking awesome.

The US Supreme Court has ruled in favor of congress' ability to regulate things that don't even remotely have to do with interstate commerce (a function the constitution supposedly restricts them to) by upholding a ban on medical marijuana. I don't like this ruling, I think it's incredibly stupid, but I love the fact that it points out the stark insanity of people's conflicting positions on whether states can have different legal regimes than the govt.

This ruling has a bearing on, among other things:

• abortion rights
• gay rights
• labor laws
• equal rights laws
• gun laws

Basically the federal gov't is claiming the ability to override states on anything. The supremes are holding up the social reforms of the 20th century at the expense of state government having any meaning whatsoever. And if you think that these reforms are worth it, consider the fact that as more conservatives cease to focus on state level politics the federal government will be swarmed with even more religion-driven people like the current administration. Don't interpret my words as supporting one side or another on this because they're not meant to, I just LOVE that there is going to be a fight between two equally retarded and contradictory political factions.

Secondly, Apple is moving to intel processors
Speaking of self contradicting zealot sects, I am loving that appleheads are going to find a way to swallow all of the anti-intel propaganda they managed to make up over the past 20 years. I love that we're going to stop hearing about how great G5s are compared to P IVs, and how apple as a hardware company is going to spend the rest of its days as a peddler of completely unspecial status symbol consumer electronics. But MOSTLY I love that I'm going to be able to pirate OSX in a few short months and run a prettier unix without paying through the nose for an overpriced and underperforming platform. All hail change!
