Work - such as it is

Last thursday, I learned that the casino I play at employs prop players. A prop player is a player that works for the casino making an hourly wage, but plays with their own money. Their job is to play in whatever poker game the poker room manager wants them to play in to keep that game from breaking up (often when enough players leave a game, the remaining players wont want to play shorthanded, and the game breaks up). So they get bounced around from game to game just filling seats to try and keep games going. They cant choose which game to play or how long to play it. They also have to play during the the slowest times at the casino, which is open 24 hours. For the prop I talked to this means something like 1AM-9AM Sunday-Thursday.

Its a full time, 40/hr a week job. It comes with benefits such as medical and retirement package, which kick in after 90 days. It pays something like 12-15/hour (in addition to whatever you win playing poker). Anyway, as you might have guessed, im kind of interested in this job. Im not entirely sure that its something that I want to do, but it SEEMS like something I want to do. The extra hourly money would be nice, and I could definitely use more stability in my life. Not being able to choose my own games could be rough, as I think that game selection is one of my best poker skills, but im not sure how much its going to hurt my winrate to not choose my own games. Playing 40 hours a week could be rough too, especially when you cant just decide to go home. Also, 1-9 AM is a pretty fucked up schedule, even for me. So I was thinking about trying to find out if they would let me prop part time rather than full time.

Before I actually applied, I wanted to see if I could handle schlepping into the casino for 8 hours a day on a regular basis. Every day since last thursday Ive shown up at the casino between 7 PM and 9:30 PM and played for at least 6 hours.Ill be heading up there soon today, and that will be my 10th day in a row. It is in some senses unfortunate how well Ive been doing this past period.Im up $7k there, and Ive only had one losing night, in which I lost $20. Needless to say, Im running pretty hot to do this. Its great for my bankroll, and its been a ton of fun, but I dont think its doing a good job of preparing me for the grind of playing 40 hour weeks. Until I drop a grand in a night and then have to drag my ass back in the next day, im not really gonna know what its like. Of course if things keep up at this pace, ill just keep playing a lot, and do it on my own time.

Any thoughts on whether I should/shouldnt apply for this job?
