[Soft Eng Sub] Sexy Zone - SZ10TH Online Fan Meeting Vol. 1
Hi! I'm happy to finally be able to post this here, finally, it seems it's been so long! I have so many notes that I could write a whole report on this..haha, this was long, exhausting and I wanted to finish this just to move on~
I'll just briefly explain this, during their 10th anniversary and due to the current situation, globally, SZ was not able to have a physical fan meeting but they decided to have them online, and this is Volume 1. This one was held on January 23, I believe, later they released the Director's cut as an extra with LET'S MUSIC single.

Important notes: This is something I wanted to do because the fan meeting was so funny and I enjoyed it that much. There's no reason for us having something like the non-director's-cut, but I'll leave the link for a week or so, and later if you want it, please send me a message here and I'll help you with that, be sure to have your messages open. I really don't want to put this entry friend locked, that's the whole reason. I think you could try here as well, but I'm not sure if the timing will be right.
Also, I'm sorry about the mistakes, this is long and this was made just by ear, I'm not good when that happens. Of course, this was just a fun project, fan-made, and I tried to do my best. Also, there were a couple of lines that I couldn't figure out, I tried to look for reports around the Internet but sadly they remained a mystery for me. XD

I think this fan meeting is a nice chance to get to see their personalities and their characteristics within the group. I think their dynamics change when they're less than 5 and it completely depends on the members. I think if Mari was here, he would have said at one point "this is chaos", again, LOL. I missed Mari in this, and I remember the first time I watched this I thought that it must have been a little bit weird for Sou-chan to talk about songs he didn't sing or he didn't get to perform. But I'm so glad he's back.
Now, onto the endless notes~ or you could even call this a report, let's do that instead, for obvious reasons. And these will be out of order, I'm sorry, it's just the order I have them, I'm messy when I write notes during the process of translating.
Also, the process was insane, I did it in any order because it was so long, I think it's like 3500 lines or so... I don't know why I do this... Oh, and if you're doubting about which one to watch, go with the second one without thinking, the only difference in the director's cut is a final after talk, but it's super short, like 3' or so. And I took a break from translating things on screen, this is not SekuChan after all.

- First, this was originally intended to last 90', they extended that time to around 100' and all 4 of them looked really nice :D I've read a couple of reports to get some help regarding what they were saying when speaking all at the same time or screaming, but since this is so long, it's really a little what I was able to find... Also, the director's cut is like the "censored" version lol, so I'm going to talk mainly about things that won't be in the director's cut, and while re-timing the whole thing I was able to be aware of all the cut parts and kept wondering the reason for that and the result of my thinking process was the following reasons: 1) to make it short by cutting parts when they weren't quite sure of what to do or when they made a small mistake, 2) there were some topics that it was better not to have on DVD I guess, like from their past or mentions of members on hiatus and so 3) Fuma being super out of proper manners, LOL, and to be honest, that was the funniest part, actually, you also have Kenty and Sou-chan doing their part, poor Shori-Shori was the only proper kid and despite all of that and his cuteness the director's cut ended not having enough of him, so, no the cut is not my fave at all, I was also upset at the way they cut the After talk parts from the PopxStep tour, but this is worse, I think.
🌹 About the sexy ranking, they used a varied range of words that could all mean a different degree of "sexy", so I mainly used sexy, I know it sort of clashes with their name, but that's how redundant it turns out to be when it's English XD.
🎭 By the beginning, we have Sou-chan making a lot of references to gags or comedians which is really hard to get if you're not familiar. First the tooth gag, and then the Higuchi cut, that I found this super short video of the gag LOL and we end the whole 2 min within the video with the Kato-chan gag, he is a famous Japanese comedian. He says "Katochan Pe!" with that pose. And that pose could actually be a little of the choreo for Change the World? if I don't remember wrong they had a sort of moves with the hands, or was it for With you?
🕺 About With you choreo, they mention San-san, and they're referring to Sanche-san, their choreographer, if you're an Arashi fan, you've probably heard about him before, he has many stories with Oh-chan especially and now after I'm a teacher, I kind of understand San-san a little more, LOL, he was in charge of a bunch of literal kids and he had to make them dance and look good in front of the cameras and freaking Tokyo Dome! BTW if you want to check their performance in Tokyo Dome, you can find it on JUMP's DVD (I think it was Summary 2011 in Dome but something like Disc 2), they looked so tiny!! You can also find many Stones members, it's insane!! To think a bunch would debut pretty close to that and others would have to wait for 10 years! Amazing
Kenty uses this funny way to express what happened previous to SZ formation, like "before SZ". Kuramoto Kaoru, here's a pic of him, if you didn't know him.
🌅 When they mention Fuma really liking Twilight Sunset, he asks a question, and here's my answer to him, lol I wrote this on the spot: To answer Fuma's question, because I couldn't write this down in the fan meeting, well, I think it's because of the performance during the concert. Twilight sunset was not a song that called my attention at first, but they did such a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL arrangement for the song during the concert, you can feel, you can see, you can touch Fuma's love for this song, the performance of this song is just amazing and one of the highlights of the concert. This acoustic version was great, it made the song even better, the lyrics are amazing, the original song is beautifully sung, but the concert version is a masterpiece. That's why an album is not complete without the tour, it is during the live performances that you can see it finished, completed, and you can see and experience their love for the songs...and Fuma being the one most involved backstage, I think he let us see how much he loved the song, and that's the reason it's number 2 because you love it so much, you crazy summer lover, baka! you made us love this song as much as you love it. That's the answer...back to translate.

🤴 About Kenty comparing Shori with one of the 4 heavily kings, this is the link I found, the Four Heavenly Kings are four gods, each of whom watches over one cardinal direction of the world.
Also later, Kenty makes a comparison with Enoshima electric railway or Enoden to the way ShoriShori calls the short forms of Innocent days, an amazing single!
🙅♀️ I tried explaining the Kokontozai game within the notes in the subs, but here's what I found: this game started with participants required to go around in a circle naming stations on the Yamanote line. Each participant must answer in rhythm with clapping and must drink if they are unable to give an answer or give an answer that is not in the category.
❤️ If you didn't watch STAGE, then you totally should, it's one of my fave concerts from them, but you can check here how the dog frame worked, it was cute! Of course, it's the FumaKen part XD That's also a short view of the coupling song ranking, the performances. The performances are amazing, and that's the main reason these songs were chosen.
This is for the album song ranking, also amazing performances, I think all of these are from a very biased Fuma perspective, but I'm okay with that XD.
I can't stop with the links, sorry, this is the part when they asked fans to sing the part during Stage song, so nice!
This is Suki sugite on Shokura, it's hilarious, I'm sure you've seen it around Twitter XD And this is the Shonentai pose Fuma's talking about, or something close to that... XD
🤝 They mention going around the country with fan meetings and it seems they did it before, according to what I've read it was around 2016 in 5 cities.
🌟 All the talk between Jhonny-san y Nakai-san is better explained in Songs of Tokyo and also in BuzzRhythmn when they talked about their history and all the steps between the changes of members. I highly recommend you to watch those shows if you haven't, especially the first one, since it has English subs. It's so cute and pitiful how Sou-chan never knew about how Nakai-san intervened for them to get back to 5 until the 10th anniversary or the details of it. According to the Internet, this was the Mste in which Nakai-san talked on their behalf.
🧱 This is about the matadon part, as usual fans are too amazing recalling everything about the boys, so apparently, Sou-chan knew at some point what a matadon was, he even explains it here. Of course, this was during SekuChan, so it's understandable he totally forgot. LOL.
🎵 I got the translation of the lyrics for Aoi Koibito from here.
👨🦱 Kenty reads about Sou-chan's hair and the way they call it is Pompadour, he actually says "ponpa" as in a shorter form.
💡 Now, this was hard, the expression Fuma uses referring to his fans is something like this (He/She is) smart but some portion is not. ネジ外れてる部分=some portion's screw is missing=some portion not working properly=some portion dumb. I'm sorry if the expression used sounded a little bit hard, but it's that. And I think this was uncalled for because this was just Kenty's revenge after Fuma's story about Wonder Love performance and that's just involving fans into their FumaKen world. Don't do that! Of course, this was cut in the director's cut LOL, actually, I enjoyed checking and predicting all the parts that they would cut out.
🧍 References:
- I believe this is the person Shori says that Sou-chan made it look like a pokemon evolution of his name when he mentions the clue for the suki sugite. Of course, this joke was also cut out.
- Kenty mentions he wants a song to be the song for a Takahiro Miki movie, and he also mentions Blue Spring Ride, I didn't like that one that much, but you can find in the link a very nice list of movies, including the girl in the sunny place.
- If you didn't quite catch the dancing flower, this is a pic of it.
- This is the person I think Sou-chan mentions along with "hitori hitori" LOL, he's so random. About this, what I did was try to emphasize the difference in the accent, the intonation of the words, of course, it's not accurate, but it was the way I found to point that out. I think it was super cute, Fuma even mentions Hokuto and it was cut, of course.
💌 This is the Otonoha in which Sho-chan mentions watching SZ performing RUN, 2020.13.31 Vol. 206, I couldn't find it translated, but I think I've seen it before.
🤐 The secret on Shori's dorama is maybe the posters with the members photoshopped images LOL, SZ and Kisumai's members XD
🤪 About the rice legend, it seems it's a running gag which I've never heard of it before~
📹 I can not end here without mentioning this, this was something I mentioned when translating Change the world and I didn't quite notice this during my first watch of the fan-mee but they mentioned a bit of magic on their video and it's in the second chorus and it's exactly the thing that made me love the short PV on youtube when it was out. It's their previous videos singing the lyrics and it was so nostalgic to me because way back when I first started to follow Arashi I've discovered fans used to make something like this. And it's a lot of work, that's for sure, and it looked so cute in their PV, so thanks Yasui-chan XD

I'm free, after so long... on random thoughts my phone is on its limits, I'll have to buy a new one soon~ I'm loving the doramas I'm watching this season!! Especially Koi desu and Michi/Meme's one. I want to do the new epi on Ikemen Fuma next, I'm loving the plot, it's nothing but crazy, also it seems they recorded the first 5 eps and later much later these upcoming ones, Fuma's hair is different. Also Kei-chan's entries, I don't want to be so late again... But first, I think I'll have to work on my classes, I was only able to write this because it's a holiday in my town. XD
I'm terrible with dates, but since today(well, tomorrow in my case still)'s ARASHI's special date, congrats!! I miss you! I'll be waiting for you ALWAYS!
