Yep, this was the song I wanted to add to update my lyrics master post, why? because I wanted to do this, either way, it took way too long!! But as part of today's procrastination here it is!
But! let's start with this, just because I love this song LOL, too! I was trying to see which album I liked the best, I'm still thinking about it, and this doesn't make it any easier, I think I'll pick one song from the other contestant, but...who knows when it'll be up???

But, today's song is a continuation, I don't know, I love this song more each time I listen to it, I have a lot to talk about it, as usual, and I'm not sure whether I'll have the time to do so. But for the time being let's go with the translation or the mere attempt of it! And again, for Stones another amazing collab, this time with Whale Don't Sleep, I'll write about it a little more later, or so I hope, and I got kanji from
here.
SixTONES
(Figures)
Lyrics: Whale Don't Sleep
Music: Whale Don't Sleep・Page Grace
We've been living all this time in search of something that won't deceive us
looking at the destination of our weak selves.
It doesn't often work that good
but we can't quit this game of life.
We don't need to change our attitude to suit the situation at hand
Which is the attitude you're walking with now?
You can take it easy, that's too bad for you
the world is still this cruel?
It's your choice to turn down the radio noise
in this broken taxi.
Running endlessly by the seaside
under the hypnosis that we still believe in reincarnation
scattering the colors of our dreams one by one like plucking the petals off a flower,
painting them even if we have to try hard, even if we were running out of breath.
We've been living all this time in search of something that won't deceive us,
looking at the destination of our weak selves.
Alone, in a silent room in the flickering night
the end roll can be heard
it's good that you're still young enough.
For a drama that should have been easy
but with every miss, we get replaced through the glass.
It's stranger than fiction
でもstay the same
And you're wrong?
(Reality) is stranger than fiction
if you stand out, you're different
but if you stay the same
you're wrong?
Replaceable figures
空っぽinteriors
Caught up in the system
You're gone
Replaceable figures,
empty interiors,
caught up in the system
you're gone.
Yeah
You're Long gone
売るsoul
Can't turn it off
Yeah
you're long gone,
selling your soul
can't turn it off.
探してるanother way
Barcodes gotta be erased
When looking for another way
barcodes gotta be erased.
Always looking backward
where the lights are casting shadows.
Still waiting to make those 3 steps ahead,
still sinking into the night dissolving away.
We've been living in a city that's only getting dirtier
surrounded by righteousness burdening our heads.
We've been living in patience, waiting for our turn
and we can't find the heart we've been hiding anymore.
We've been living all this time in search of something that won't deceive us.
But it's enough that it's the right thing, let's live a life without regrets.
Every time you look back and bow your head down
Every time you want to cover your footprints
let's go somewhere, with a bouquet of flowers
to line up in the show window
those irreplaceable figures
will remain.

[T/N]: Is this an amazing song or what??? I love it, really, more each time I listen to it. So, where to start? There's this really good article
here that comments on this song, that helped me to think of the song in a certain context, I'll give a brief summary on that, and then I'll move to my fave parts and comments on the lyrics, which are amazing, beautiful and really meaningful.
The article starts with the reason for picking "Figure" to talk about: "Because "Figure" is a cheering song from Mr. Kujira, who wrote the lyrics, for Sixtones to keep challenging themselves, and it is also a track of Sixtones' past."
The song was provided by the up-and-coming composer "Kujira", a Vocaloid P who is also active as an artist and is creating a lot of buzz.
The song "Figure," written by Kujira, is a cheerful CITY POP song with a strong message of cherishing your individuality and being yourself no matter what, even in a world where things don't always go well.
It's also mentioned that the members mentioned this song as the continuation or sequel for Uyamuya, but what's interesting is that the whole article the connection between the lyrics and Stones' history, and how long it took for them to debut. It is also mentioned the lyricist's words about the song how he knew about the long jr period for Sixtones and also "I wrote about the difficulty of trying to be something and the difficulty of forming a personality along the way." Also, something that called my attention was that it is mentioned that the lyricist of this song usually writes the lyrics before the music, so I guess he really put a lot of thought into this, and it shows!
Now, on the actual lyrics, I'll just try to go stanza by stanza mentioning some highlights according to what I've read and also a little bit on the interpretation from the article, of course, it's just an interpretation, let's see
1. the literal word would be "betray", but I wanted to use something different, so that's the result.
2. there's so much information in the second stanza, just there! I love the whole packed full of words and meaning phrases but it's really hard to translate! There's this expression here saying you don't have to change the side of the palms of your hand, that's literal, it means changing your way of thinking according to the situation, that's why the next phrase makes a play on it and asks which side is up now, which made no sense to put it literal there. I think this part is about realizing the world you're living in which is tough and you don't often get what you're looking for, but you can't quit.
3. this is full of imagery, beautiful! so, it's like being running after your dreams for a long time, in Japanese there's this expression of "painting your dreams" and this is the part when the colors with which you're supposed to paint your dreams become the petals scattered like when you pluck them from the flower to get fortune-telling. It's full of imagery and there's also the mention of hypnosis as in being convinced of something, maybe without basis. Also, the rhythm is amazing, it's super contrasting.
4. Next, it's the chorus but then follows one of my favorite stanzas and the one you won't find in the short versions, I think, this part is so good, this is frustration, not getting what you're looking for, also something that may sound like a patronizing way of saying you might get it next time, of course, this is compared to the debut moment, and the ones replaced in the glass, I think this is the main theme, it's talking about figures, you get replaceable figures, and by the end irreplaceable ones. The figures are the ones that get to be on display, as... idols, right?
5. The rap part, this is very mixed with English, but the whole idea I think gets conveyed, I love the barcodes part and I've seen it translated to Japanese as being like everyone else, having a barcode. Also, Juri pronounces it kind of cute, I couldn't figure it out, but he's super cute. I think the highlights of this song are Jesse and Juri, for me at least, and Juri not in here, in the rap I mean, but in the very rhythmic parts, the ones I'm mentioning as my favorite ones.
6. The stanza after the rap is super nice and Taiga is definitely a highlight, it also mentions the waiting how it's hard to take those 3 steps towards the limelight.
7. Now, the dirty town/city, this part is interesting because there's a contrast between this righteousness that is a burden for them and the part when it says as long as it feels right for you, you can live without regrets. I love all these connections and details. Next is a short stanza too that mentions the whole putting up with time and how in the whole ordeal you lost sight of your real intentions because you've been just waiting and waiting.
8. Last short chorus and the closure with Juri riding on the rhythm in an amazing way, I love the strength in his singing voice here. And this part, I think it's my favorite because it closes the whole theme, it's about how when you're finally there, once you look back, instead of wanting to regret it all you can take a bunch of flowers to put them on display to remind how you've become one of those irreplaceable figures that aren't empty inside.

That was indeed long, but I think it makes sense because I've been wanting to do this song since I first listened to it, the path was tough, long, and difficult, but I think it has become one of those irreplaceable flowers on display, a figure LOL. Okay, that's it!
I'm tired, so let's add some fanarts and leave!! enjoy the song!
