After the shock of the paper exploding, Rikiichi and his sister are both amaze to see her scar has disappeared. Rikiichi happily yells, "Waki! I've taken a liking to you! Marry into our family!"
"It's a bit too much to ask for me to marry you."
"Not me. Marry my sister!"
"Thanks for your consideration but I already can't accept women."
"So you're into men? No matter. Waki, why don't you stay here forever since you have no where to go."
Rikiichi promised to make Waki's life ten times more interesting since he's tired with life. Waki accepts his hand, saying "Your kotodama really hurts the ear".
Next morning Waki finds Rikiichi up already with the catch for breakfast. Also in the basket Rikiichi brings out a canine he found at the bottom of the waterfall. Originally he wanted to skin the fur but he discovered the fur is the same kind of fur that was sticking onto Waki when he found him so he figured the canine is Waki's. Waki sadly pets the dog, saying "I thought he must've sank to the bottom of the river."
After burying the dog, Waki wonders if stepping out of the moral boundaries of humans will bring you immortality. Rikiichi says he and his sister wouldn't grow old or die because of their blood and sins, then what about Waki? Waki tells him the story of his past.
When he was little, he is part of a cult training deep in the mountains. In that place nobody knows who they are, nor do they know anything about their parents. All they know is they need to train to earn their ration of food. Needless to say he was shocked by the many things he see when he first stepped out into the world, he learned and participated in many sinful things, to the point where he thinks there is nothing to stop him, he can do whatever he desires.
Believing he will grow old and die some day, Waki passed through time doing what he felt like and thinking his body is sturdier than other's, that's why his injuries seem to heal faster than normal. One day he happened to look into the mirror and reality hit him; He should already be at least 50 years old but his physical body didn't seem to have aged.
Over time he grew tired with keeping track of his age. There's a few times where he almost lost his life but in the end he continued to live. Till now his is still uncertain what caused his immortality, he believes it could be punishment for killing and eating humans.
Rikiichi asks if he tried cutting his own heart out. Rikiichi admits that he tried it himself and couldn't continue because it was too painful, making Waki laugh at his stupidity. Rikiichi encourages him to smile more because to be able to laugh is life's most happiest moment.
Waki remiscient back into the past. Poor villagers living life like hell, loosing their smile because of the famine. During that time Waki lived apart from humans, he helped an injured wild dog saying off-handedly if he wants to repay him, he can bring a rabbit. The dog really came back with a rabbit.
From that point on, every day Waki had rabbit. When he told the dog he was tired of it, the dog started bringing fish instead. Just as the two is starting to enjoy each other's company, the villagers found out about them and accused them of taking all the food source. The dog protected Waki and got sliced by the villager. Angry, Waki killed off the villagers.
Walking on top of the falls, Waki said to the dog, "I already bandaged your wounds...This time you will repay me as well right...?" Realizing the dog won't reply anymore, Waki falls off the cliff holding the dog in his arms. And afterwards is when Rikiichi came into the picture.
Rikiichi reminds Waki he did not die because there is something he has to do. Rikiichi hopes for the sake of his sister and daughter, that Waki can lend them his power. Waki agrees to do anything in his power to help Rikiichi and the people he treasure if he can fulfill two conditions: To give Waki entertainment and hope.
The deal is sealed between them, and so the puppeteer is born.
