Is this something you're planning to write? It looks long!

Nooo. This is a list of the actual novels and short stories so that I can check them off as I collect them.

I know, right? It's more than a little daunting.

But it's also nice to have a project of something to do!

It is, yes. It should take me years.

{your keywords lol!}

That's nice! I kind of have the same unofficial project with anime, but I get antsy after watching for too long (unless the episodes are mesmerising, which only happens about 10 or 15% f the time...).

Hee! I like to have inappropriate keywords. :D

That's how I am with fic. If I'm not enjoying it, I scroll quickly, hardly reading, yet unable to completely drop it and move on.

Well, you're doing a bang up job of it!

Hahaha, yeah! What is it about that, do you think? I tend to watch a lot of series, and it's not as if I necessarily dislike them, but it's rare that I'm enraptured. So why do you keep writing fic that isn't as enjoyable? Maybe you can answer that for me so that I can have some new insight and drop all these other series that aren't like amazing for me...

I think you get into this sort of, hm, idea that you are committed to a fandom and it becomes sort of something you have to do whether you like it or not, like homework or after-hours office work. I think we keep hoping they will live up to our expectations of how grand it would be to "succeed" at being the best at being a fan, as lame-o as that sounds. We want to have read it all, watched it all, wrote it all, etc. etc.. Not everything, though, will live up to the series that you first fell in love with, or the other fan writer that is leagues above the rest, or whatever. Once you've watched a really fantastic series or read a boatload of amazing fics by one or two people, you continue to seek that high out, and are often let down. I know that I, personally, got to a point in HP fandom where I felt that I had read and wrote every decent prompt, and that everything else was just codswallop. It's weird. And, frankly, it's depressing when you reach the end of the enjoyment ( ... )

Huh... interesting. I definitely related to the feeling like you need to read it all - kind of like a job, as you said. Hmm, the best fan... I have to think about that one. Mostly I feel like I need to know what everyone is talking about - so I watch. I wonder if I do it for enjoyment? It's almost like research to me, only I'm not sure to what purpose.

... Yeah, it really is like research, now that I'm sitting here and thinking about it. It's like I want to know all about the anime world. Why couldn't I research something more... I don't know, respectable? Shit. :(

I forget which part that is exactly, unfortunately. It's been a while since I've marathoned the episodes!

Also wow, I really had a copy/paste failure up there. My bad.
