“Chuck” Star Yvonne Strahovski Encourages Women to Get a Mammogram
We women are taught from an early age the importance of regular breast cancer checkups. And the subject of the disease moves to the top of our thoughts in October during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
That’s certainly the case for Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Uber spy Sarah Walker on “Chuck.” She is one tough woman on the show and equally strong in real life, having been a dancer, rock climber and hiker growing up. After all, she has to be at the top of her physical game for those rigorous fight scenes.
“I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy,” she says, laughing. “I love that I do have that physical aspect. It’s great, and it certainly keeps me on my toes as well, especially when we’re shooting a fight scene at 3 a.m.”
But she also knows part of staying fit means keeping a close watch on our health. She advises women everywhere to get those yearly exams:
“I do think we all need to be super aware of breast cancer,” Strahovski says. ”Follow through on all those things that people tell us to do - check regularly for both breast and cervical cancer, those are the big ones. We really do, as women, need to stay on top of that because it’s so important to catch those things early so that, obviously, it can be treated.”
