I always love replies to this question. When did you become a Chuck fan? More specifically, what episode? Did any of your friends introduced you to it? Or vice versa?
I have a very weird taste when it comes to TV. I want shows where things happen. (Alias - Buffy - X Files - The Pretender - NCIS - Criminal Minds - Castle - Lie to Me - Bones - Farscape - Stargate Atlantis - Babylon 5 - Superman etc) I am not the type to sit and watch reality TV or soap operas or just comedies or school teen dramas... I mean If a yawn could yawn... I find them utterly boring! I am 36 years old and the only exceptions are Friends and The West Wing. Both shows I recommend to anyone! Its not that I don't try to watch other stuff. Its just that it does not stick! So when the new shows were presented way back and I started reading plot synopses I was intrigued. Here was a show that not only had the adventurous spy stuff but also the sci-fi into it? I watched the pilot and absolutely fell in love with the show. By the second episode I was hooked. I have been following the show ever since. Here was a show that brought not only the adventurous element to it but also the comedic one... and by throwing in the intersect they also brought in science - fiction A combo I do not often find in the shows I like...And on top of that it had an adorable ship... and a great supporting cast too....How could I not fall for this adorable show ? Since then I have bought the R2 DVD's. I have been trying to get friends to watch it ... with some I succeeded and with some I did not... But I will never stop trying to convert people and I will keep on watching for as long as its on and they don't take them selves seriously ....
I'd just like to say that I think you have excellent taste in television shows. *GRIN* I watch most of the ones you listed (the only ones I haven't seen are Pretender, Alias, Stargate or Babylon).
Thanks :) Judging from your icon I like your taste in shows too. :D .
Well Alias is a show about a family that are part of the espionage game (some on opposing sides of others) and it focuses on the daughter. Jennifer Garner was in it and she did a great job with her role as did some of her co stars. To tell you the truth I started watching that show after season 1 had ended and before season 2 started because I heard Lena Olin was going to be in it and I am a fan of hers. So I got hooked. It's one of the best spy shows ever made. It did not have a large audience but it had a loyal one.. something that allowed it to air until the show ended. The disguises and the stunts are amazing. I only hope Chuck can have a loyal fanbase that will enable it to go on despite lower ratings.
Pretender was about a genius who could pretend to be anything (a pilot - a doctor - a coast guard employee etc ) and he escaped the facility he was kept in all his life and whilst trying to find out his true identity he helped people along the way while simultaneously he tried to elude the people who he escaped from who wanted to lock him up again and use his genius to their advantage. I think the show was on in the 1990's .
Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG1 were sci fi shows and if you have seen the old movie by that name well then you can guess what the shows were about.
Babylon 5 is the best of the three shows. Think of it as politics in space. It was way ahead of its time and it wasn't Aliens are the bad guys lets shoot them. In half of the primary cast was Alien. It was about a Space Station which was located in neutral space territory and it held ambassadors from all the major space races which tried to work around their issues without causing war. Because the show is quite old the special effects and sets are outdated. But its still great to watch and it was written and presented as a five year story with a beggining a middle and an end to it. Andreas Katsulas and Peter Jurassic just shone as two of the Ambassadors. Brilliant television all in all.
End of Rant.
