A discussion on one of the other recent posts has gotten me thinking. Previous seasons were very family friendly and consistent with a 8 Eastern/7 Central time slot. I never worried about watching Chuck on TV at its regular time with my young children around and in past seasons my oldest child (almost 5 now) sometimes watched with me. The material was light and I liked the fact I could watch it with my kids around. There are few prime-time shows that I felt comfortable watching with my kids present and Chuck and Survivor were the two main ones. This season, starting with the premiere, I have not felt like the subject matter was appropriate for my child to even inadvertently see while I was watching. I have attempted to keep them busy during the show so I could watch on TV and support the show. After the last episode I have realized I must wait and watch Chuck on hulu instead when my children are in bed.
With the ratings drops over the last two weeks I wondered, are there other parents like me out there? Could the recent fall in Chuck ratings be due to the loss of family viewers who deem the recent dark mood of the show as inappropriate for family viewing?
