Dead Presidents, I love 'em in my wallet and I love 'em in my Holidays.

Last weekend was excellent. I had just enough going on to keep busy, but not so much as to regret it. And now I'm gong to tell you all about it, starting with Thursday night...

Thursday after practice I went to see These Are Powers kick off a five week tour at the Cake Shop along with Apes from DC and some other bands. They played with this insane noise/metal band called Knyfe Hyts that played about three songs in half an hour. Long, bong-soaked noise jams. I dug 'em, but probably would have dug them more from a hazy, overstuffed coach. Apes reminded me of Faith No More... in a good way. I got to stand right up front where I nearly fell into the keyboards and the lead singer definitely fell into me. Haven't been that "in the mix" in quite some time. These Are Powers were like nothing I've heard in a while. Half art rock, half punk rock -- they have this quite energy that demands the entirety of your attention. Like the director from Lost in Translation said, "with intensity". Great night out.

The original plan for Friday was dinner with Sophia and Ty, but Ty's band (the also excellent Terrordactyls) were playing a party at their promoter's offices, so we went there instead. The promoter is Fanatic Promotions and they are all absolutely adorable. The 'dactyls did a few songs and the founder, Josh, did a few as well sounding a little like solo Bob Mould. He also read a fabricated rejection letter for a song he "submitted" for the Juno soundtrack that was pretty funny. I chatted with Josh and a few of the other folks that work there doin' web and radio promotion. I wish I had the money to throw at them because they do a bang-up job are nice people to boot!

Saturday lindaleeb and I spent wandering around Park Slope then met up with a whole crew for dinner at Schnack and drinks at the Bait and Tackle in Red Hook. Linda and I are so in love with this bar. To call it dog friendly is an understatement. The bar was a constant parade of the sweetest pooches you've ever met! Everything from labs to pugs to a Jack Russell terrier. *And* they have a mustache ride. Totally going back!

On Sunday I upgraded my iPhone to 1.1.3 and re-hacked it. I think that took all day. Sunday night had to bag on diner with Pete, Liz, Liz and Phil in an effort to try to hit the Slavic Soul Party in Williamsburg, but it was still sold out by the time we got there. Our consolation prize was more booze with Heath and Lindsay at a bar that was showing Pump Up the Volume. Sadly, we left before the scene where Samantha Mathis takes her top off (the only one I really remember from the whole movie, honestly).

Monday was ridiculously warm here in Brooklyn, so Linda and I celebrated with a bike ride through Prospect Park. I'm not sure what else I did, but I'm pretty sure I played a lot of Pokemon -- the absolutely best way to memorialized dead presidents, if you ask me.

This week has been a blur honestly. Work's been busy and Hidden People have been rehearsing a lot in preparation for our show Saturday! My fingers are a little bruised and blistered from a beer fueled 2 hour rock bender on Wednesday, but I think that's the sort of training you need when you're preparing to play a bar called Trash.
