Based on the number of recent reposts of the NY Times
Hipper Crowd of Shushers article on my Friends List, it is readily apparent that my friends have a solid appreciation for all things hip, sexy, and bookish. This is why I love you all.
Many of these posts question why the concept is still so surprising to so many people, and I tend to agree. I was encountering hip, sexy librarians way back during my time in the trenches in the early-90s -- and this was in the Midwest! In fact, seeing as how I was playing bass in a band with my drummer librarian counterpart, I'd like to think I was one of them (although I was only a reference assistant).
I suppose this is another case of me forgetting that the the views of the wonderful people I've surrounded myself with both in the real world and online do not necessarily reflect the views of the public at large. In this case, it's nice to know they're catching on. I must confess I've always been tempted to get back into the library world. Not sure how I'd manage to work from home thing though.
In gaming news, I don't even like first person shooters any more and I still want one of these:
Considering all the electronics are already in the controller, I can't imagine it's going to be that expensive. I mean, it's just a chunk of plastic, right?
Finally, the
50 Dates girls have pretty much completed their conquest of New England. Their date in Boston was with a guy named
Phil, though sadly not our
philbot. Their single greatest achievement, however may be the creation of
Guerilla Dating which I'll let them explain to you. I know at least
one lady will be excited to know their second Vermont date was with a
fireman. I am very sad I missed them in NYC as they were within blocks of where I live, but I was at the beach that day. There are still plenty of opportunities to get in on the action as they move out toward the midwest.
gabrielledion, I'm thinking you in particular would love hanging out with these two and could show them a good time in either Ohio or Kentucky, or both!
