Last night Linda brought home some amazing pork chops from our favorite butcher. I thought they would be awesome breaded. Being the consummate bachelor chef, I would normally buy a box of Shake-n-Bake, but none could be found at our craptastic local market.
So instead we decided to make our own breading. Turns out it's really easy! Cracker crumbs, paprika, oregano, garlic, onion, and some veggie oil. We threw it all in a grocery bag with a chop and I started shaking it up. All was going fantastically until the bone in the chop ripped the bag sending greasy bits of cracker into my laptop keyboard below. I probably should have moved it after looking up recipes. Anyway, a can of forced air got most of it out but my laptop still smells faintly of paprika today.
The chops themselves were excellent. Definitely a meal I would do again.
Afterward we finished the bottle of wine and watched Six Feet Under. I had planned to lock myself up in the studio after Linda went to bed. Instead I passed the fuck out -- at like 10:30! And slept for 10 hours! I think after three nights in a row of staying up 'til 4am my body finally said enough is enough. Unfortunately this means I'm even further behind on the album. Panic is setting in.
Some encouraging words this morning from the RPM Challenge folks. I think for now I should focus on getting as many ideas down as possible and worry about fleshing them out into songs later.
