I had one of those weekends where I kept wanting to announce how great it was, but was afraid to jinx myself.
Friday night, after a dinner of homemade chili,
lindaleeb and I met up with Liz K to see
The Science of Sleep. The movie is childlike in the sense that it is equal parts delightful and cruel. It made parts of it very difficult to watch. Just like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" you will see aspects of some of your worst relationships here. It makes me so glad I'm not dating in my early 20s again.
After the movie, a quick drink with Liz and Pete became two Latin Manhattans at Sample and a beer at Last Exit. Ah Brooklyn, how you entice me with you liquor!
Saturday Linda and I got shit done. We sold
ravinald and
quigs' old TV to a cop from Queens who is putting it in their Station House in the Bronx. So the next time I'm in SF we can have a round on the boys in blue!
Saturday night Linda and I went to see
Say Hi To Your Mom play with the Starlight Mints and Mates of State. Eric played the show solo. The songs still sounded like the recordings, but without a lot of the power. That drummer was amazing. I'm hoping this is only a temporary thing. The Starlight Mints were excellent. To add to there excellence they had these amazing vertical LED lights behind them. I think they might have actually used them to hypnotize us. Music doesn't normally make my butt sore.
The Mates of State rocked. How can a married couple playing drums and keyboard rock so hard? It is a mystery.
On Sunday, Miss L and I had brunch in Williamsburg with a friend we met through Steve and Andrea's wedding. The restaurant was called Dumont and had some fantastic french toast. Apparently the burgers are really good, too. I'm going to make a pinkie promise with myself to spend more time in The 'Burg.
After very unproductive trip to the Apple Store (I ended up ordering my mini online), I whipped up some mashed potatoes and we took that plus our leftover chili to a little get together in honor of
misslizzers, who was sadly really too sick to fully enjoy it. She did tell me some good news that made me giggle and smile. So yay for good news.
In between all that I managed to do some cleaning, pay some bills, and join a gym -- so go me! So yes, now that it's done I can finally say it: What a GREAT weekend!
