A Long Days Weekend

Jun 01, 2006 15:50

Hey there, LJ! Long time no see!

I'm hanging out in Diesel this afternoon. I got pulled into some work around noon and didn't come up for air 'til almost three, so I'm calling this a late lunch.

My Memorial Day weekend was fabulous. Friday night I went to see X-men with a gaggle of folks (we'll throw out necrophore, doctor_toc, and ddraig_glas since they have LJs and you people tend to read deeper into posts with links). It was alright. Some great action moments and some great X-men moments, but not nearly the tight, character driven affair the first two were. It also featured the fastest sunset San Francisco has ever seen. Drinks after at The Diva Lounge, which always splits lindaleeb and myself. I love it, she hates it.

Saturday night I went to see Say Hi To Your Mom at T.T.'s. They were a little more low key since they were wrapping up a tour and the lead singer had to play seated thanks to a giant cast on his leg. Invited the band to crash on my couch in exchange for a ride to Brooklyn but they got a better offer.

This meant Linda and I were on the Fung-Wah bright and early Sunday morning... except of course that we slept in and only managed to catch the 11am Lucky Star through pure luck. Still that gave us plenty of time to spend the rest of the weekend wandering around Brooklyn, picking our neighborhood. Not only does Brooklyn look doable, we may even be able to get away with something a little on the luxurious side, if the ads are to be trusted.

Sunday night we did a karaoke blowout at Lit with quigs and ravinald -- possibly their last before they head out to San Francisco. Collin was his usual rock and roll self and we had a great time. No regrets about leaving early though, as we would have been dead Monday otherwise.

Tuesday night was All Beatles Live Band Karaoke. I donned my suit, brushed my hair flat and strapped on Tom's bass for my rendition of "Hard Days Night." I think it went ok. It was fun to play with the band. Lots of good renditions of Beatles classics. Theme nights are a nice edition.

Yesterday I must confess I worked little. I went to the gym at lunch and had my ass kicked by my trainer. I spent most of the afternoon recovering. This left me a little low key for rockin' with Steve and Jeff Wednesday night. I think we made some good progress on some of the less familiar songs, though. We should be ready to give a good set at the end of the month!

Ok, enough for now. Lots coming up this month, so entries may be sporadic. Trip to Ohio mid-month so hopefully I see some of you then!

weekend update, say hi to your mom, brooklyn, karaoke, beatles, x-men, nyc, t.t.'s
