Things that have made me chuckle today...
Thanks to those who made it the Abbey last Friday. The crowd was actually larger than I expected considering the weather. The folks that were there were obviously determined to be out having a good time! My Own Worst Enemy were, as always, I joy and a pleasure both to play with and listen to. It was fun to see people dancing in the Abbey Lounge. It's probably the most fun I've had playing since the last T.T.'s show.
Saturday night Linda wanted to cook tofu for dinner. Instead I talked her into coming with me to the West Side for wine and meat. To me that just seems more like dinner. Afterward we headed out to Cello Kate's housewarming party. I hadn't been over since helping her move. She's painted all sorts of crazy colors and it looks great. I particularly like the red in the living room. After a few drinks I headed out with Jonny, Mike, and singing Kate to T.T.'s for the rockabilly christmas show. No cover and a free round of drinks. It sure helps to know the staff! Plus a dude playing upright bass in a full santa suit. Awesome.
Sunday morning I went over to K's to make and decorate Christmas cookies. We made Christmas angels, and trees, and stars, and menorahs and pumpkins(?) and spaceships(!?!?!). I met the drummer from Fooled By April, Jordan. He's leaving the drums behind and looking to pursue a career as a lead singer. It's a shame, good drummers are hard to find these days.
Met Rich at Grendel's where the staff was having their Christmas party. They'd been drinking since 1. It was about 5:30. Nothing like having bartenders and servers in fancy dress drunkenly tell you how much they love it when you come in. Several of our favorites may even come to the show on Thursday! Ended the evening by committing a little villainy with
necrophore and
doctor_toc.
This week has been fairly busy at work. Lots of cases as people scramble to get projects completed. Really looking forward to the show on Thursday. Rehearsal went well last night and I think we'll put on an entertaining set. Stopped by karaoke at the end of the evening. Not a lot familiar faces but a fun crowd. Some chick named Polly did a version of "Roxanne" that could give Yoko Ono a run for her money. Didn't really use many of the original lyrics. This drove away what was left of the crowd so the band just started doing this ridiculous free jazz for the last 20 minutes while we all hung out and ate free pizza. Not a bad way to end the night.
Tonight I'm hitting up T.T.'s (which I can't stop thinking of as "The Tittie Bar" now), then heading home to wait for
ravinald and
quigs. I smell Katamari Damaci in the future...
