Well, its been a hectic month recently. I haven't been online much to update my blog because my computer has been on the fritz. Well, actually my adapter has been. I called Microsoft and they just sent me a new one.
Work has been hectic. I have been pulling a lot of doubles recently getting ready for my vacation to Las Vegas that was great! I had an awesome time in Vegas, and the plane ride was fun, the casinos were fun, and the hotel was fun. What ever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Jeff, the GM of my restaurant and I got into a heated discussion on the phone the other day. Apparantly, my vocal exercising of how I feel about some of the things he does, or doesn't do for that matter, got back to him and I am glad. First of all, we were supposed to start a crew incentive program to incorporate fun into the building. Similar to the Great Team Cards concept at Target, the program was supposed to roll out on Monday. I was to have heard about it and learn about the roll out 2 weeks prior. Jeff had taken the FUN board and materials home and never brought them in. When I went to a rollout (seed store) training, I was asked on the progress on the board in front of my peers, and I was very embarrased to say we were late rolling it out because it wasn't communicated to me. Then, I return to my store, and Nicole, my HSM, told me that they had a catering order that needed to be delivered at 12:45pm and when I was at the store, it was 2:00 pm. Apparantly, Matt, an hourly employee, was to deliver it but got lost. He then called them and said he was running out of gas and returning to the store, which was not the right thing to do (he called the rep instead of the doctors office). Long story short, I had to do a refund for $116.00 and a case was opened, and I wasn't even on duty for that delivery. So, after all that gets straightened out, I still have to put the truck order away, Nicole is in a bad mood, and the lobby and store are trashed. I start changing trashes, and can't replace the liners because there were no liners ordered on the truck. So, I have a plethora of empty garbages, and no liners so I send Nicole to the hardware store to get liners, and she did. At this point, I am livid. So when Jeff called, I told him how I felt. He told me if I didn't like it there to go to Dave and ask for a transfer. I told him upfront though, that everything I said I stood by, and that I didn't appreciate that we don't follow through on our commitments, and that there are things that bother me. Although the FUN board wasn't a "make or break the business" project, it was the last straw, the icing on the cake. Oh yea, did I tell you in this same night I had an employee call in because she had too much homework and another walk out because he didn't feel good? Yes, it was the night from hell. In a nutshell, Jeff and I talked everything out but I wish that we didn't wait as long as we did to express how we felt, because it built up.
With that, I have had call-ins and no call/no shows for the last three nights that I have closed. Wednesday night I closed, I was so short handed, that I ran 9 hours under labor guidelines - which means that with the sales that I did, I could have afforded 9 hours of personnel to help me. Thats a lot of hours. Oh yea, on top of that my tire got a flat because I ran over a nail. It wasnt a good day.
I then decided to go to the Big Apple with my best friend Jim and play cards until 6 in the morning. Oh yea, I won. I won good. I won by 400 points at rummy (and if you are reading this... na na na na naaaa).
I'll close now, I have to finish some last minute cleaning before I go to the airport and pick up Aunt Judy and Uncle Frank from the airport today. I have to stop at Jims and let the dog out, and feed the bunny.
ttfn...
