Halloween Party Part 1

Oct 29, 2012 00:19

after a whirlwind weekend of overtime and getting things checked off my to do list, the final day arrived for the big Halloween Party that my Saturday job was holding!  so, there i was Friday night at home getting my last minute things packed for my lessons on Saturday when i suddenly realized something: i'd forgotten my witch's hat at my other job!!  it was around 9:00 PM when i realized that i'd left it there along with my other Halloween supplies just in case i forgot on Wednesday for the small party we'd be holding at the daycare, so there was no way i was going to be able to get it since the daycare closes at 7:00.  sigh... so thank goodness that google had just the advice i needed for "last minute halloween costumes" ^_^;;  as i scrolled down the list the google gods gave me, i found one that i could pull off with stuff i had around the apt.  all i needed was some black paper.  as luck would have it, the pile of colored cardstock that i keep around for craft projects had one more piece of black cardstock left!!  i attached my cut out ears to a headband, then i fashioned a tail out of an old black sock stuffed with some crumpled newspaper and pinned it to a black hoodie.  add on some black leggings, and voila!  i became a black cat!

Kay and i both broke tradition this year.  ever since her first Halloween, she's been dressing up in the same pumpkin princess dress that i bought at Toy's R Us a long time ago, while i always dress up as a witch.  i've been doing that since high school when i went to my first Halloween party.  i was also a witch last year at the same school's Halloween party.  oh well, i guess things have to change every now and then :)

after teaching my classes at the school, some of the kids started showing up and we all walked over in costume to the nearby community center where the party was being held.  it was a good thing we had booked it there, because there were SOOOOOOOOO many people who showed up!

this was probably only 1/4 of the people in that room.  what i loved about the party was that some of the dads also came dressed up. this dad put his own twist on a Jason costume and there was another dad who got all dressed up as a blue elephant with a big costume head and all!! i totally applaud that dad, because it must have been sweltering in that full body costume!!! D:  i didn't take many photos of my own because i was designated the photographer when i got there.  so with my manager's camera, i took probably over 100 photos and a few video clips too :)  there were some really awesome costumes the kids were wearing, some homemade, some bought.  Kay stuck mostly with I-chan because they've played together before since I-chan's mom is one of my coworkers at the school :)  she came as Rapunzel with an awesome long braid that her mom crafted together! :D  here's a vid of them playing around.  you can also see how many people were at the party.

we played some games and even had a farewell ceremony for the owners who are moving back to the States come November.  i sure will miss them ;_;  they really made my first working experience here in Japan a great one!  the school will still be open and they will be the owners, but all responsibilities lie on the manager's shoulders for now.  they're a pair of really awesome peeps too, so i'm not too worried about anything there right now :)  as tiring as it is when working 6 days a week, i wouldn't change it because i love my job and the people there! ^_^

so today, hubs took Kay out for the day since she was with me on Saturday.  he took her to the zoo since it was another free admittance day and they had soo much fun together! :D  i stayed at home and chipped away at all the stuff i had to do on my list.  i worked for a total of 7 hours straight with no breaks, and finally got everything done at around 6:00 when i finished shopping for some last minute things for the daycare's Halloween party this Wednesday.  i'm probably going to put in some over time this Monday and Tuesday to finish everything, but for now, i'm just happy that Halloween's almost over ^_^;;  one step at a time... one step at a time... :P  here's a video and some photos from her daddy day! enjoy!
