Birthday Update: This year was one of the best, I had the most important and some of the most unexpected people sending me greets. The day before was, as usual, the company Christmas party, so as usual I did not have to spend much for a party. The advantage of being born in December includes not having to worry that your friends would be bugging you about a celebration because they are pretty much tired of too many parties during the season -- is easily offset by the fact that some people opt to give you a two in one Christmas and birthday gift. I was given the traditional bouquet and the specially embarrassing feeling of having to stand up in front of the whole company fidgeting and being fully aware of all my facial muscles and my hands while they sing me the birthday song. I’m not complaining, I think its grand how people made the effort, especially my wonderful team who came in with gifts. For half the day of my birthday I was sleeping, needless to say. W and I went for Thai food for lunch; his gift was brilliant and just what I need - a bag that fits in my laptop, my planner and a change of clothes - for traveling. G made my birthday dinner and my family celebrated it even without me. Turning 27 was in my list of the top 5 scariest events I expect, but God compensated it by surrounding me with wonderful friends and family and the fact that I was born during the best time of the year, when people feel forgiving, happy and are getting drunk on a weekly basis until Christmas day comes.
Christmas: I cooked pot pie to contribute to the dinner and gave W’s mom and Vladimir therapeutic massage vouchers. W got a hair clipper (he cuts his own hair, I know, how cool is that?) and snowboarding gloves from me. Christmas was generally very peaceful and G’ sisters are all here.
