AN: Not sure how I feel about the ending. Not sure I got it right. Oh well.

It's an old saying that every boy wants to be just like his father. Dean Winchester was no different, when all was said and done.
The first impression Dean ever remembers getting of his dad, other than love and warmth and safety, is big. John Winchester stands at six feet and two inches tall, and to a toddler he's absolutely gigantic. Dean decided at a very early age that he was going to be big like that one day.

Years go by. John stays big, but as time passes he begins to get bigger. Biceps thicken as layers are added on top of muscle; sharp cheekbones become softer and fuller, and a flat midsection becomes plush and mildly convex in a display of domesticity that his dad takes in stride. Dean is still young when this happens, and the new baby is a bit of a distraction, but he resolves again that one day he's going to be just like dad.

Time rolls ever onward. John's gently rounded stomach becomes outright round. His appetite increases as time goes by, and his girth naturally increases as well. By this time, Dean is old enough to grasp that dad is always getting bigger because dad gets plenty to eat. So Dean gets plenty to eat as well. His mom frets over his appetite and youthful chubbiness a bit, but John waves her off and quips that he's "A chip off the old block, Mary. Just leave him be."

When Dean becomes a teenager, it becomes his goal to outeat Dad. He never succeeds, never even manages to eat as much as Dad, but John (who seems to have caught on somewhat) just grins and ruffles his oldest's hair. "Maybe next time, kiddo," he quips, before scooping Dean's leftovers onto his own plate and wolfing them down. He always finishes those meals with a contented pat to his ever-growing belly (350 pounds last check-up, he confides to his son one day) and a sidelong wink when mom isn't watching.

Dean grows up and goes off to college, but he never really grows out of his desire to be just like his dad. Where Sam is slender and athletic like their mom, Dean and John share a hearty appetite and a love of cars. By this point John has sailed past the big 400, but Dean's creeping up on the big 3 himself, so it's only a matter of time.

He meets Carmen in the cafeteria. They go on a few dates, they go through a few breakups and makeups, and then they go through a wedding. Dean's 350 by this point ("more to love," Carmen whispers in his ear whenever someone mocks him for his size), and as Dad helps Dean into his slightly-snug cummerbund, his father puts his hand on his shoulder and tells him how proud his is, then poked him in the stomach and tells him to leave some cake for everyone else at the reception. Dean just smiles, pokes his father right back in his 450 pound belly.

"What can I say?" He asks. "I"m a chip off the old block."

And as his mother sniffles as Carmen walks down the aisle, as Sam stands as his best man and Dad beams with pride, Dean realizes it's true. He is just like his dad, in all the ways that really matter.

He still wants to be big, though.
