Pairing: Umichi Summary: Kawashima Umika a girl with a disease that is practically incurable, has been finally taken in by a hospital, but her doctor Chinen Yuri has a traumatic past that involved her exact disease.
“I’m sorry...but uhmm, my hand?” Chinen said, trying to not offend Umika in anyway.
Confused Umika looked down and realized she was still holding onto his had, embarrassed she quickly let go and held her hands behind her back, with a flushed face.
“I’m so sorry, it’s just that your the first doctor that has actually accepted me as a patient. Every other one said they didn’t want a patient that was going to die, but having you accept me is like a miracle and I was in my own thoughts, it really means so much to me and -”
“It’s ok, I don’t mind so take a deep breathe and calm down.” He cut her off from her ranting.
Once again. she turned tomato red, and bit down on her lower lip, a habit she had when she was nervous or embarrassed.
“Excuse but you would be...?” Ryosuke asked.
Chinen and Umika turned to him confused then realized he was talking about Mirai.
“Oh, I’m sorry for not introducing myself earlier, my name is Shida Mirai. It’s a pleasure to meet you, I am Umika’s friend.
Nodding Ryosuke took his hand out for her to shake with a huge grin across his face. Chinen stood there though, as though he were thinking about something serious, the hall was silent, and the other three stared at the doctor with confused looks.
Suddenly Chinen had his eyes on Umika with a serious look on his face.
“Please excuse me for this might sound rude, but are there any family members here with you today?” He asked Umika.
Umika was shocked, he was the first doctor to ever ask her that. Slowly she shook her head indicating that no one that was related to her by blood was there with her. Mirai noticing where this conversation was most likely leading to she walked toward Chinen, took his arm and dragged him down the hall to where Umika wouldn’t be able to see them. Leaving both Umika and Ryosuke to just stare at the scene that just happened.

After Mirai made sure that they were out of Umika;s sight she turned to look at the confused doctor.
“Umika’s parents have practically disowned her.” She told him.
“Why?” Yes he did realize that he was being nosy and rude, but it really did shock him and so he was curious.
“I’m sure you already know that she takes medicine, well medicine is not cheap at all, and Umikas family has financial issues.” Mirai was really hoping that he got the idea, she really did not wish to say the reason why. It disgusted her, that parents could do that to their own child.
Of course Chinen was not slow at all, he caught on to what she was saying.
“So they disowned her because they didn’t have the money to pay for her medicine and it was getting difficult for them” He wasn’t asking, he was stating.
“So when they disowned her, she had to work for the money...she is musically talented, and so she used that to her benefit and it did help her to get the money she needed.” Mirai said finishing off the explanation.
“So her parents...?”
“She hasn't seen them for 3 years. For all they know, she could be dead, or overseas or even cured.” She said.
Chinen nodded and decided it was time for them to head back.

The two that were left behind stood by each other awkwardly. Umika was thinking about how crazy her best friend was, where as Ryosuke felt sorry for his best friend, being dragged away like that.....
“I’m sorry, she is a bit odd...but trust me she is really a good person.” Umika was trying to explain to Ryosuke.
Shaking his head Ryosuke smiled and chuckled. While Umika was staring at him wondering why, with her head tilted to the side. Noticing that Umika had a questioning look on her face he stopped laughing.
“No, I find it quite amusing she seems like a person you could never get bored with” He explained to her.
“Ohh I get it now! You seem kind of young for a doctor.” She pointed out.
“I am 21. You seem quote young yourself.”
“I’m 20! Your just one year older than I am” she stated with a grin on his face.
Deciding that she would be fun to tease...
“Really? Your kinda short you know.~” Teasing her.
Puffing up her cheeks in frustration, she gave him a joking glare then stuck out her tongue. Laughing at how childish her act was he ruffled her hair. Grunting Umika tried to get her hair out of the nest like form it was in.

Finally the two that disappeared, well one that disappeared and the other one that was forcefully dragged with her had finally come back. Mirai walked back where she was standing before beside Umika and Ryosuke beside Chinen. Finding it funny Umika giggled and Mirai stared at her as though she were some lunatic.
“I’m sorry it’s just I find this funny, how we go right back to the place where we were standing like robots or going back to starting position.”
Wondering wether or not the girl was right the other three stared to stare at each other and then at where they were standing. Realizing she was right the hall was suddenly filled with laughter.
She’s cute Chinen thought. It’s like having a fragile baby chick in your hands. Make one wrong move and then...Having someones life in your hands was definitely not easy. Of course he has saved many lives and has had the responsibility of ones life in his hands many times already considering he was a doctor, but this was different. It felt like god was giving him a second chance, to relive it, but he sent it in the form of this young girl who seemed so healthy it was hard to believe she could worsen at any moment.
After the laughter died down, Chinen decided it was time to get down to business.
“Lets go and get a full check up on you. See how your doing so far” He said and leaded Umika, of course the other two were hot on their tails.
Little did any of them know, this was just a beginning to a path that could either crush them or make them. Two different people, two different worlds, but somehow things just began their life journey, something so painful and sad that all four would have to get through.
