I just bought two really good cds. The first is Jason Mraz- "Waiting for my Rocket to come"... its surprising how deep that title can be... and also how sexual it could be. BUT the cd is great! I bought it today for ten bucks. I saw him perform on MTV and on David letterman and he is a very motley looking character. I liked his song "The Remedy" and downloaded some other songs like "You and I" and I really liked them... so It was time I bought it and listened to the whole album. The second cd I bought was Pete Yorn- "Day I forgot". I havent listened to that cd yet, but I have heard some of the songs and I liked them. SO, those are two very good examples, if you are every curious, of the kind of music I like to listen to.
Reflective moment:
I was lying in bed the other night and I popped in the Bebo Norman cd- "Myself when I am Real" and it reminded me of one time when I was in the car with The VW's(or as they have been referred to by a certain smart girl, The VonTraps) and David put a copy of this cd that I had made him... I just remember sitting in the car where everyone was singing the songs. It felt like the intro to "That 70's show" where everyone in the car is singing and switching places in the car... except there was little car switching and the music had a different feel from the the headbanging dramatics in the tv show intro. Its inspiring to see other people being touched in their own way by lyrics to a song. Songs are very powerful tools. I think the most powerful image that day was Dr. VW in the front singing to the song "Great Light of the World". This really was a healing image to see someone so respectable and so calm pouring his heart out along with a song... I find it therapeutic. No wonder hes a doctor.
