I would die for you

I realized that theres a large chunk of the past year that I forgot to document. Including my wonderful Spring break on the east coast.

I flew into La Guardia at night and saw the most amazing view of Manhattan possible! It had everything that a realistically spiritual moment could have- bright lights, a panned view that could have gone well with really slow, reflective music, and the most incredible part of it all- the city. It WoWed me when I saw it and the complexity of it. NO WONDER You can see Manhattan so well from space. I havent flown on many airplanes and maybe that was the reason I was so amazed.

Arrived in Long island around 11pm and the second I got out of the car was the first time I had EVER seen snow! I Tell you, I was a really really really happy person at that point. On the last day I was in new york it started to actually snow from the sky. This was another first.

The purpose of the visit was because my aunt offered to fly my dad to new york to remodel her kitchen and parts of the house. My dad used to be a contractor and he was the last person to completely alter her house, so she obviously wanted him to do it again. SO he asked me to go along with him- this got me very excited. I love new York so much. I might move there when I graduate. Carrie gave me this wonderful idea- teach for america... and I might apply when I get out of college. Apply for New York.

So the first day we took out the doors adn the windows in the garage and this took a long time because the wind was not our friend. It blew me around and it blew the windows so it was hard for us to install them. BUT we got it after a long day of constant exposure to high speed wind. My face was all red from the windburns. BUT it was finished and I was very proud of our work. We had finished a large half of the work in one day and so my cousin, Mark (who used to teach at st. johns), offered to accompany me to Pennsylvania so that I could go visit Tony and Luis(something I had not planned on doing, but it was a great idea so I went). We rode two trains and after a few hours of switching trains, we arrived. Mark left me two stops before I had to get off to meet T and L so I was kind of nervous because I didnt know where I was going. I walked into Union Station and it was huuge. It was fun to be in a train station. I see them in movies all the time but this was great. Tony and Luis finally showed up and we walked around Philadelphia trying to figure out what we wanted to do. We decided on a bar(even though I wouldnt turn 21 for another week) and luis led the way to a tiny bar about 4 blocks away. IT was fun. We ate, chatted up, and in no time Tony was so tipsy.

Luis borrows my cell phone and I dont know who hes calling but apparently he called up UPENN to send us a car to pick us up because we are too far away from where they live to walk. THEY HAD A VAN COME PICK US UP! now that is service. I wish trinity had some sort of circuit like that. SO we found the bus and it took tony back to his dorm and Luis and me back to Luis's house. He has a house. This house was BIG. Two floors, his own room, spiral steps, etc. It was great, and it was in the middle of west philadelphia, home of will smith. Luis and I went to the grocery store and outside I saw a guy selling some gloves and hats so I bought a yellow hat that I wore the rest of the trip. It was so windy.

I woke up the next morning and there were two other women in the house! A third, Lisa or something joined us later for a bit of partying. Luis lives with two women. So Tony joined luis and I for an early morning breakfast before showing me around the town. Luis cooked us some eggs, some VEGETARIAN BACON! haha and some hashbrowns that were a bit sketch... I think he got them from last nights dinner that was sitting out. haha. Luis is funny. I think hes great. THEN, he poured us all Gin and Tonics to go with breakfast. Tony didnt like the idea and when luis was looking the other way he poured his cup into luis's almost empty cup. I dont think Luis noticed. SO... already a bit happy, they led me to downtown Philadelphia. IT is a great city- kinda like New York except it is not as crowded. And all the landmarks can be introduced using this phrase, "this is the first.... build in 18.. blah blah blah" They took me to eat from the very first philly cheese steak place and it was very greasy.... but gooood.

We walked around the city, did a few errands, hung out in the market(really cool), and then took it back to Luis's house for a rendezvous with luis's two roommates and that other girl i dont remember her name. WE had dinner... oh... I should say... SOme dumbass decided they would put the fire alarm right above the stove... How stupid can you be. So I had to stand on a stool and fan the alarm that would go off every five seconds. I wouldve just take out the damn battery but I think Luis felt it was necessary. So after dinner Luis pulls out bottles of beer I had never heard of from a hidden fridge in his room. And we have a few cold ones. Then the girls come upstairs and find Luis's stash of everything, and so we ended up almost finishing his economy size bottle(BIG) of Gin and all of his tonic. I found that Gin mixes very well with that grapefruit softdrink that david's dad really likes. Cant think of the name. If you do let me know.

SO we got really drunk and tony and I stumbled back home singing Enrique Iglesias songs. My spanish aint so bad when I cant walk right.

So to sum up the rest of my trip, I went to Manhattan and stayed with my cousin who lives right around the corner from Columbia University... We had so much fuN! I saw Aida. It was a really good musical. I love the music. Then I went back to Long island and replaced some doors, redid the bathroom and back to Houston a day before having to go back to san antonio. THats all folks. Sorry. I got caught up in Philly.

Hope you all doing well.

I miss my people.
