artist statement:

I have been a fan of pin up art for many years. The human form has always fascinated me and I relate pin up work to sophistication and class. Growing up in this day in age, it’s very easy to come across explicit material. When I think (and see) pin up art, I’m enjoying it for the beauty and tease of the genre it first originated from. I also see strength in the art form. A pin-up girl is a woman whose physical attractiveness would entice one to place a picture of her on a wall - without having to take off every inkling of clothing - if any at all. I put a lot of thought in this and I believe the direction I’m going to take my pin up photography will stay within the same lines of sophistication (while glamorizing the “pretty girl”) - yet it will be taken with a slightly different approach. I want my art work to be a collection of female stereotypes - not women as defined by men but women as they have been brought up to perceive themselves. I want to range anywhere between the housewife to the sex kitten, and everything in between. I want to include irony and underline a sense of contradictions between modern womanhood and what is and was to be expected of women. The themes will be instilled with humor and have a thin line between exhibitionism and art as well as fashion and fetishism.
