Kenya Wine Agencies Limited ~ Papaya*

*No date, but mention of two ambiguous awards

I was feeling adventurous when I brought home this pale yellow citrine-colored Papaya wine from Kenya. I didn't have very high expectations about its taste, but it turned out not to be any worse than any regular wine you'd spend $3.37 on. The aroma matches chardonnay and it even has the same buttery flavor, though with a sour grapefruit-rind character. This is absolutely a 'fruity' wine; I tasted papayas and pineapples, with an earthy hint of dates.

In spite of my initial doubts, the Kenya Wine Agencies has proven themselves legitimate (if not downright worthy) in the bottle business. I give them a robust B.

kenya, novelty
