The Fifth Beatle ~ Vivek J. Tiwary, Andrew C. Robinson, Kyle Baker

I didn't know much about Brian Epstein. I didn't know he hadn't managed another act before The Beatles, or any act since. I didn't know how brief and condensed the period of their working relationship was - just barely five years. I didn't know how young he was when he died (just 32), and what a sad and anticlimactic demise his was.

Without Brian Epstein, we'd never have heard of The Beatles. He helped their marketability, got them signed to EMI, worked to help them control their merchandising rights, and supported them through tours, television performances, and film shoots.

This graphic novel is not about The Beatles; it's about Epstein and his ambition, his inspiration, his life's work to be the best manager to the best and most famous rock band, while living a lonely and drug addicted life. The story is moving, and the art is a dream. I got goosebumps.
