I remember back in the day when all you got was one lousy control stick. None of this dual fagalog dicks crap. You got one right in the center and you liked it. If you wanted to "look around" your semi-realistic polygonal surroundings, you had to hold down a fucking shoulder button! And items? Guns that change modes? What is this shit? You had a pistol, an automatic, and a rocket launcher. Everything else in the game was just a variation of those three. Simplicity and a loose theatrical reference! That's what we liked! And auto-aim! Yeah!
If Rare and Microsoft got in a fight, Microsoft would offer Rare an exorbitant sum of money and Rare would take the bribe and STILL kick Microsoft's ass. And then they'd give themselves reasonably attainable cheats and kick ass again and again until they were damn well satisfied.
