hey kids!
break was cool - it was nice to be home. i got to see j's games, hang out with my family/friends, and i even got to see the su kids over break!
the return to campus was marked by the absence of the kids who're in strausbourg. you're missed like whoa, my friends. i hope you're all doing well!
our return was also marked by the arrival of nerf guns via katymessere. these have proved to be an excellent buy seeing as we've had numerous fights already and it's only the first week. most notably the fight between wong and katy in the hall on wednesday night and another one between wong and phil last night in williams room. ambushes have been many and mighty as well : ) it's good to be back.
classes went well this week. all of the music education majors are so confused because most of us have a lot of random free time now. don't worry - all of our free time during the day (between theory and everything else on MWF) will disappear as soon as barbara tagg gets her rear in gear and gives us our field experience placements. i signed up for elementary school this time around (since i was in a high school last time) and i said i'd go for instrumental, choir, or general music. we'll see how that goes.
speaking of schedules, i might as well post mine somewhere so i'll remember it:
Monday
8:25-9:20 = Chromatic Harmony II
2:15-4:15 = Sound Practicum (at Syracuse Stage)
as soon as i get done with sound practicum - 5:05 = Wind Symphony (aka Crouse Band, SWEB (pronounced "sweeb"), and Windphony Ensemband among others)
Tuesday
9:30-10:50 = Music History IV
11:30-12:00 = Clarinet Lesson
12:30-1:50 = Intro to the Theater (for Non-Majors)
3:00-4:00 = Flute Lesson
5:00-6:30 = Brazilian Ensemble
7:00-8:00 = MENC
Wednesday/Friday
8:25-9:20 = Chromatic Harmony IV
3:45-5:05 = Crouse Band
Thursday
9:30-10:50 = Music History IV
12:30-1:50 = Intro to the Theater !note the lack of convo! ;)
4:00-4:30 = Guitar Lesson
5:00-6:30 = Brazilian Ensemble
i'm really glad that i'll have the time to go to field experience on MWF (mostly WF). it won't be like last semester when we had to go before music history on TTh and all day during our days off. i have the feeling i will like life a bit more this semester.
i also ended up getting the job with ETS. i'm quite excited to start working because i'm broke and i'll be getting paid to learn useful things that will help me out 1) during my career and (more immediately) 2) for my tech theater minor down at syracuse stage.
the other thing that will take up a lot of my life that i'm excited about is CATS. it runs from February 11th - March 12th with performances every saturday night and sunday afternoon with a few day shows thrown in there as well. it'll be fun - good music with even better people! the only part that sucks about it is that i'll have to miss the closing night of the ccs musical, but i'm planning on being there thursday and friday nights. i'm so excited for those kids, especially taryn.
lastly, last night was fun. we got a free dinner! we were just sitting in the lounge and all of the sudden were given 2 pizzas that were left over from the students who take advantage of the Pizza and the Symphony nights (students who sign up get free pizza, a bus ride to the civic center, and either free or reduced price tickets to the Syraucse Symphony Orchestra concerts). then we headed over to the mall where we met up with bannigan and lotto and it was great to see them both. we chilled around DSW while lauralong picked up a paycheck/bought shoes and then we head to Best Buy before the two vassarians/clintonians had to take off. after that we stopped at gap where phil and katy bought clothes and laura, wong, william and i had great fun sitting in the comfy chairs and discussing what 5 items we'd bring with us to a deserted island.
back at school there was a nerf war in williams room followed by the watching of the count of monte cristo, which, i've discovered, is an awesome movie. i suggest it to all.
well, i suppose it's time to get some work done (seeing as that's the reason that i didn't go to the women's game). i believe i'm going to the symphony tonight, which'll be cool. due to CATS i won't get to go to as many concerts this semester.
i hope everyone's well!
peace out, kids.
p.s. - if you could bring 5 things to a deserted island, what would you bring? note: you can't bring anything that could get you off the island.
