Easter Caching

Apr 04, 2010 22:33

Up early this morning so we could get an early start, managed to get everyone up and on the road by 7am ish. Stopped at maccas Banyo for some breakfast and to meet tyresk, we waited for about 30 mins before texting him and moving on. Got a reply letting us know he was still coming he just had to get Moreth moving.

We got into Noosa about 10, it was drizzling on and off on our arrival and didn't look like stopping anytime soon, this is good weather for caching as it keeps the hordes inside (especially handy for a tourist mecca like Noosa) . Set out for the first cache on my list, one called Morgans choice, as it was the furtherest one, we were able to follow the path almost right to this one, except for the two places that it had fallen into the sea! Nice easy find and I was able to drop off a geocoin I picked up at Wynumm and also one of my own coins. On the way out I almost stepped on what we thought was a snake, took a couple of pictures of him and on looking him up at home it turns out we'd found a legless lizard, Burtons snake lizard to give it its proper name.

Back to the next Cache on our list Blue Quand, i'd actually spotted the location for this one on our way to Morgans so it was very easy to find, it was a micro and the log was soggy so I couldnt sign that one.

Then onto Woods Bay, this was located at the old noosa river mouth amongst the rocks, just signed the log for this one and put it back.

After our success we went into Noosa itself for something to eat, we had got there, got food and were sitting down when the rain came pouring down!

Wandered about a bit after the rain stopped while waiting for Tyresk and Moreth, once they arrived we were able to set off on the more challenging part of the trip, this took us into the national park.

first one we were after was called Palm Grove at Noosa, palm grove is the name of a walking track that goes into the bushland there, lots of stranglerfigs and scrub turkeys, got a little off track for this one as the GPS lost signal under the canopy, luckily I had the clues written down and we were able to get on track, This cache is a bit further off the main track then I thought, concealed in the trunk of a huge fallen tree.
didn't take anything from this one but left my Beijing Geocoin.

Stopped at the kiosk for a quick recharge and then tackled the longer walk, it wasn't a hard walk, just long. Th cache itself is on an outcropping off the main path there is no danger in falling off unless you are really clumsy, me and moreth tackled this one while Kita went to have a quick look for the nude beach. Found the cache then had to wait for kita to get back as he was carrying my backpack with all my gear in it.
Left my John Harrison geocoin in this cache.

Started the long walk back to hastings street, jumped in the cars and headed for home
