RivFur 2008 report
you could say RivFur started on wednesday as that is when our first attendee showed up (AussieHusky) with Taubu, Jones, Atpaw and Drake all showing up various parts of thursday.
First up was the friday night BBQ, I sent people in early to secure a site, we didnt get the ones we had last year but the ones we did get were fairly close to them and noone had trouble finding us :)
BBQ was fired up early as some people were hungry and couldnt wait any longer, we had plenty of sausages for all tho so it wasnt a problem.
Misty was kept busy laminating and handing out ID cards. Kiba and Drake headed off to the airport to pick up Oz who had caught a later flight.
Meanwhile we were kept busy welcoming new arrivals and introducing some of the first timers around.
After the BBQ, a few of us went to the movies, most of us chose Hancock , a very good movie! while a couple of others went to see get Smart, which they told us was also very good
Saturday started out wet and cold and basically stayed that way for the day, we all loaded up the cars and headed off to Movieworld, we stopped halfway for breakfast where it was discovered that the tickets that kita, myself and leilah had prepurchased had been left at home! Kita turned back to get them while the rest of us had breakfast, a few of the guys decided to go to Seaworld instead as they werent as interested in the rides, so they headed off there.
Kita showed up with the tickets and we were off again!
Movieworld was a total blast! there was pratically no lines for the rides, and even tho things were a little damp we all still had a ball.
before we left we hit the shops and loaded up with souvenirs, nearly everyone fell asleep on the way home (except the drivers)
Me Drake and Kita got first shot at the showers when we arrived back at The Cave as we had to do the set up for the FurBall at the tavern,
we met Tyresk and Espfox there as he had a mirrorball for us to use and his laptop for hs turn at DJing.
Party started at 7 and at first most people were happy to have something to eat and drink and just chat, then once everyone loosened up more and more hit the dancefloor, the fursuiters got suited up and got more people up and dancing. One of the Highlights had to have been Bohemian Rhapsody as performed by Drake and Lei and Duke and Atpaw.
The staff at the hall thought we were all very entertaining and were impressed with our behaviour, so much so that they asked if we minded if they took some photos to put on thier website
Sunday we all got to sleep in a bit, we turned up a little bit late to the start point for the scavengar hunt, even tho it was a sunday parking was still bad!
everyone was divided up into groups, given their clue sheets and turned loose on the city. I went to the mall as I was part of the hunt and kita joined one of the groups before going over to the end point to meet the groups.
Everybody worked out most of the clues (I was worried they would be to easy) Last group found me and picked up thier next lot of clues so I was able to head over to the end point where points were tallied up and winners were given their prizes ;)
Everybody headed back to The Cave for a few hours of rest (and gaming) before the final event of the weekend Laserforce!
Drake was still able to run the show, even tho he dosnt officially work there anymore so we were able to play games to suit ourselves, Pizza was ordered and very quickly dissappeared, we got a couple of group pictures and lots of candid shots, Drake supplied unlimited tokens for the machines so they got a lot of use as well
Overall the Weekend went very well and we think everyone enjoyed themselves
