The history of Halloween followed by Halloween memories!

holyoffice made an interesting post today about the history of Halloween, or rather the mis-history of it. It was so interesting to me that I thought that I would throw out a few blurbs from it that show the conflicting accounts of the origins of a holiday about which very little is known for sure.

I recall when I was pretty young, I went as a robot. My costume consisted of a bucket or something over my head covered with tin foil and then a huge box with holes in it for my head, arms, and legs...also covered in tin foil. My big mistake was making the arm holes not much larger than my arms, so instead of having free range of motion, my arms were basically sticking straight out perpendicular to the sides of the box. As the night went on, my sack of candy got heavier and heavier, and holding it straight out broke me ( ... )

Lol.

I remember both of those Halloweens. It's funny imagining you as a child with your arms sticking straight out of this robot costume.

OH MAN that was a funny one with that priest costume. In my defense, however, i had just eaten a snack of cheezits and oreos, which dont sit well in the stomach. But yes, I did throw up after seeing adam with that priest costume tucked into his pants.

My last year that I dressed up for halloween (until college that is) was freshman year, and i went trick or treating with Dianna Orr and Jessica Lund. I was an alien and covered my face in this copper paint. I believe we spent most of the night hiding in bushes and jumping out at children to scare them. It was quite fun.

That was also the first year that I spent Halloween NOT in canyon lakes since i was a very little kid, as most of my "friends" from St. Joes lived in Canyon Lakes. I didnt mind though, because we got WHOLE CANDY BARS from those old rich people.
