Planechase Release Event Report

I bought the Elemental Thunder deck because it seemed the coolest: huge red and green elementals, such as Verdant Force! I also shelled out $16 (!) for the Ultra Pro Planechase deck-box with sleeves, which I considered overpriced, but I had come with my heart set on buying one.

Wow! Okay, that'll work! Not as good as owning the real things, though. Makes me think they should probably sell them without the decks for a cheaper price.

I decided that I could still make a Zombie deck if I wanted and for the release event I would rather play the Elemental deck, which seemed more fun/wacky.

I tried to improve it a bit last night but had a hard time figuring out in what direction to take the deck. Besides adding two more Shivan Oases and 4 Karplusan Forests (maybe bad in multiplayer?), I added two more Tribal Unities and another Tornado Elemental and Verdant Force, Birds of Paradise, another Cinder Elemental, Hull Breach, and Branching Bolt. I took out a few cards I didn't much like, like Fires of Yavimaya, Fertile Ground, and Blaze. Obviously I don't want to add non-Elemental creatures, or the deck will lose its flavor, but I don't know exactly how to optimize an Elemental Deck except by using huge Elementals plus Tribal Unity. I also took out Relentless Assault, but I wonder if that's a good move. I actually have two more of them I could add if I wanted....

That was what I told my friend Allan. I'd be willing to buy the Planechase cards themselves, assuming my playgroup actually likes using them. But I'm not about to buy 4 precons to do it.
