Indo-European

A lot of what my wife and I do in school is learn languages, both ancient and modern. Although she also has to concern herself with Semitic languages (e.g. Hebrew, Aramaic, Arabic, Syriac, etc.), I only have to concern myself with Indo-European languages (e.g. Latin, Greek, French, German, English, etc.). Of course, someday I may wish to learn Hebrew in order to read the OT and better understand the NT (which is heavily influenced by Hebrew since its authors, save Luke, were all Jews). I thought that it would be interesting to post this chart from my Latin textbook (Wheelock's), which shows an abbreviated tree of the Indo-European languages, along with a list of cognate words as they appear in the various languages. Enjoy!
