I'm playing a Magic Online
league and it's going worse than any tournament ever has for me. My
deck is quite strong and I always draw strong cards, but I have been
mana-screwed all four games so far. In spite of this, I almost won two
of the games. The last match my opponent was playing all five colors
and randomly drew into all fives land types without any mana-searching.
Meanwhile I had three Swamps, two Forests, and zero Mountains. I still
got him down to four life. The second game I had a Cleansing Beam in my
hand that would've destroyed all four of his permaments, but I couldn't draw a fifth land. This game, interestingly, I drew two Mountains
but couldn't get a second Forest. Also, I was only able to get a Swamp
by a Farseek. It's outrageous. When I'm playing, it's like I'm having
anti-fun. Whatever recent fun I've had is whiped from my memory and all
that I can feel is the horrible frustration of being mana-screwed over
and over again.
In other news, I'm an internet marketer at
Cuda Apparel. Last week I
spent most of my time updating the WSU store by rewriting all the copy.
The online store is in pretty bad disarray from the perspective of the
writing. It's often filled with typos, incomplete sentences, or other
mistakes. The descriptions are often way too short. Plus things are
just very chaotic. This week I've started working making graphics with
Photoshop for the Website. It's interesting working nineteen hours a
week, plus five hours of class, plus reading and essays (and a fulltime
girlfriend as she would say). Suddenly I don't have nearly as much
freetime as I have had since the spring. I'm barely going to be able to
squeeze in five rounds of Magic Online for my league before it ends on Thursday morning.
I'm going to finish up our made-up Magic cards
soon and then get Andy to make one. I'll make a Webpage that will show
all of them. Also, I'm hoping to get a bunch of older cards soon, from
seamusmclean and/or buying 2000 bulk cards from Star
City Games. Once this happens, I will add pre-"Invasion" cards to the
communal deck. Alternately, people can give me older cards to put in
the deck. I'm looking at you, Rob.
