oh my god! the game was awesome. and it was so damn close. scotland won 13 to 7 and they were such well-matched teams. i was rooting for england and char (my sis) was rooting for scotland. england had control of the ball almost constantly but their backs were pretty weak while scotland was kicking ass on the defensive. they basically would not let england gain any ground.
so it rained. and rained. and rained some more. we were soaked. and cold. and, sadly, because of the rain, i didn't even get the chance to pull out my camera so no pics. except for the one i took of scotland practicing before the game. i was trying to catch them doing a lift but took the pic a second too early. if someone can tell me how to put pics in here...i'll post it up.
so the stadium (@ york university) was filled with scotland fans. there was actually a large group of scots in kilts and rugby jerseys sitting just behind us singing and chanting and yelling out the funniest things like "go get em chunky!". (i'm still trying to figure out who chunky is.) it was so funny. and...lol...after the game was over and scotland had won, one of the guys in kilts hopped the fence and flashed the field by lifting up his kilt. all i know is i'm sure as hell glad i wasn't in front of him @ the time.
i dunno....i'm just so happy that i got to see something like that. it's not a game you'll see every day and certainly not in canada. the tournament it was a part of (something-churchill) has only been around since 2003. and these are 2 world class teams for only $40!!!!!!! plus, i think i mentioned this before, but it was the first time that 2 6's teams played on north american soil. it was basically the rugby equivalent of watching team canada vs russia in hockey. fucking amazing is the only way to sum it up!
p.s. this last part is basically for
