Naval shows galore! (Never thought I'd say that...)

Ohhhh, Tony.  Your manpain is making me want to run to you and hug you, but my television will not allow it.  GAH.

Needless to say, I loved this episode.  After last season ended, NCIS was the one show where I was totally looking forward to the finale.  (Also, it was not making me scream like Smallville did, so, bonus).  I was afraid that the premiere might let me down, but it DIDN'T.  Because it was SO GOOD.

It wasn't just the Tony/Ziva stuff, either.  The Tony/McGee bonding damn near did me in.  They're going out to eat!  And Tony is so distracted/heartbroken that McGee just silently pays and follows him when he leaves!  And he's willing to throw himself headlong into this because Tony is!  (Okay, McGee loves Ziva too....but I totally got the vibe that he was doing all this because of TONY.  Don't judge me).

And of course Abby had her own investigation already going.  Because she's ABBY, and she's flabbergasted that Ziva wouldn't at least stay in touch with her.  Also, aww.

I'm clearly not all that coherent about this show right now.

Seriously, though.  I loved all of it.  Tony's reaction to Ziva being "dead".......the fact that he stopped pretending to be the old Tony and just flat-out did not care anymore.  The fact that he stood up to Gibbs.  The fact that Gibbs seemed to be proud of him for that.  Telling Ziva that he couldn't live without her and then stating that she probably shouldn't ask him anything else because he was under the influence of truth serum.

Just, GAH.  SWEETIE!

The standing ovation at the end made me go "Huh...okay" until I remembered that, you know, Ziva's been held hostage and had the crap beaten out of her for months (not to mention Tony and McGee's brief experience), so yeah, clapping at her return is pretty damn warranted.  The best part was Gibbs rolling his eyes at all of it.

Randomly - before I figured out what Sameel's name was, I thought Tony kept calling him "Celine" and was doing it out of spite.  I will admit that I was a little disappointed that that wasn't the case.

Speaking of that, though, the quips were back and better than ever, which I think is pretty much what I watch this show for.  "If I had a thing, I'd show it off all over the place."  "There are rules against that, Tony."  - "E. Landon Reginald Wadsworth III?  Nobody's named that."  "Except his father."  "And his father's father."  (And maybe that WASN'T the guy's actual name, but you get the point).

So, yes, my show is back and I'm so excited I just wrote "My show back is."  Uhm, yeah.  That, too.

And then there were the new kids on the block.....

Against all odds, I was looking forward to this show.  Granted, I was looking a little less forward once I learned that Louise Lombard was out, but I got over it.  (Mostly because I heard a rumor she's going to be back on CSI as Sofphia at some point).  I know a lot of spin-offs are doomed to be bad, but I really liked the crossover episode.  I was already kind of attached to Callan (Callen?) and Sam and....okay, Louise Lombard, but NEVER MIND THAT.

So I watched the premiere tonight and you know what?  STILL like it.  I read somewhere that they're playing it more like a "buddy comedy" between Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J, rather than a full ensemble like the Mothership, which is fine with me.  I liked Kenzie and Nate and Eric, and I'd like to learn more about them, but I'm fine with Callan and Sam being the focus.  They're like an old married couple, and perfectly play as if they've been together for years.

And no, there might not be a Tony Dinozzo, but I'm okay with that.  (I'm also okay if Michael Weatherly wants to make regular appearances on the spin-off.  Just saying).  As Sam himself said, Callan is kind of devoid of a personality.....and the complete deadpan that comes out of that is hilarious.  When he asked Dom "Friends or lovers?" about Jenlow, and Dom kind of squirmed and was like "I assume friends...?" and Callan just stared?  HA.

Also, I was pretty sure the girl's father was involved from the very beginning.....so there.

I get the feeling that, if Linda Hunt sticks around, her comments about the expense accounts are going to become the running gag that Gibbs' lovetaps to the back of the head are.  We'll see, though.

Overall.....I liked it.  It was as good as I was hoping it would be.  Will it last?  I don't know.  (Once upon a time, I thought Gossip Girl was awesome, and you see how my enthusiasm on that is waning).  But we'll see how it goes.  For right now, I know what I'm doing next week at 9pm.
