At least, other notes that aren't about Raising the Bar, since that show got its own entry.
First up.....
I just read that Louise Lombard will not, in fact, be on the NCIS spinoff. Insert my sad face here. I was sorely disappointed when Sofphia disappeared from CSI without a word. I felt like Louise Lombard didn't really get a fair shake, which was a shame. They brought her on and immediately had her flirt with Grissom, which in the CSI world, is blasphemy. GSR for life! (Not me.....I'm just saying). And if you're one of the few who DIDN'T care for Grissom and Sara, then you were more than likely a Lady Heather fan. So either way.....most of the audience promptly hissed at Sofphia Curtis and wanted her gone. Sadly, they got their wish. And I did not get MY wish for Brass to find love with the "I'm really not British....really" detective.
Anyway. Moving along.....I was really excited when I watched the "backdoor pilot" for NCIS: LA (also, what an unwieldy name). Several things played into this. A) NCIS is awesome, so I had high hopes that a spinoff would be equally awesome, B) When did Chris O'Donnell get so hot?, C) My middle school crush ensures that I will always have a soft spot for LL Cool J, and of course, D) I was more than ready for Louise Lombard to finally get her fair shake on primetime TV.
Well, so much for that.
I mean, I'm still going to watch the show, don't get me wrong. I liked the feel of it and I liked the other characters. But I'm really disappointed that, for whatever reason, Lombard won't be along for the ride.
....unless, of course, she's going back to CSI to marry Jim Brass. Then all is forgiven.

Here's the thing: I'm the biggest bookworm you will ever meet. Granted, due to my work schedule, I end up with magazines a lot of the time. Okay, some of that might have to do with the fact that I live for celebrity gossip. (It's cleaner than crack but every bit as destructive). But I still love my books.
Admission: I just turned 28 years old.....and for some reason, I love teen series. I know, right? That's not to say I'm going to turn down a nice, big, adults-only book - but if it's in the teen section, I'm probably going to read it and enjoy it. I'm kind of ashamed of this fact....but not ashamed enough to stop. I read the Gossip Girl series. I moved on to the spinoff It Girl series (and by the way, in my head, Jenny is played by Lindze Letherman, NOT Taylor Momsen. Because I cannot imagine Taylor Momsen in that series, nor do I want to). I've started on the Carlyles, yet another spinoff series of Gossip Girl. Naturally, I read Twilight and the following books. I even went online and read the snippet of Midnight Sun that Stephenie Meyer posted before her hissy.
And now I've moved on to the Private series by Kate Brian. I think I actually enjoy this series more than Gossip Girl. Probably because there are murders. Go figure. But, yes....I realized how invested I was when I went to the bookstore for the fifth book....and it WASN'T there. I'm not going to tell you how long I stared at the shelf, apparently hoping that the book would just damn well materialize. It was....kind of pathetic, actually. But still.
I tried to console myself by buying the first book of the Privilege series....a spinoff of Private, written by the same author. I finished that one in a day. So yeah, that didn't hold me off much. However, on my way out of the store, I spotted a book on sale. It was stories based on CSI - same characters, just different cases, and obviously written instead of televised. Three books in one volume....and it cost 12.98. Well, okay.
It's actually pretty good so far. I'm pleasantly surprised. And it's going to keep me occupied for awhile, so hopefully by that point, I'll find (or give up and buy online) the Private book I'm looking for.

I rarely ever go and see movies. I don't know why. I think part of it is that I got spoiled by a local drive-in, where we could see two current movies for four bucks. Sadly, it has since closed. And now, as a result, paying twice that amount for one movie just seems ridiculous to me. Before this weekend, I can't even remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater.....though a part of me suspects it was Employee of the Month. For those who don't already know - it's terrible. Trust me.
Anyway. I saw a preview for The Hangover and thought it looked funny. Naturally, my next thought was "I'll probably get it on DVD when it comes out." Because that's how I roll. But the more I saw the preview, the funnier I found it. There's a tiger in the bathroom! And Mike Tyson! Singing In The Air Tonight! (I wonder how many people got roped into seeing this movie because of that?)
So, I decided to actually spend some money and go see it. And you know what? It was damn well worth it. I laughed my ass off. Also, Bradley Cooper is hot. Which probably isn't news.....I always thought he was kinda cute....but something about the scruffy look he was rocking in this movie totally worked for me.
I'll admit one thing, though, to those who have already seen it. I totally thought Phil was lying about having a wife and kid until they showed up the wedding and - oh - he actually DID have a wife and kid. Huh. I thought he was being sarcastic when he mentioned it earlier.
Also, did I mention that there's a tiger in the bathroom? And Mike Tyson? Singing In The Air Tonight?
