You'd think I would have learned by now that I should never - never! - forget to check the friendslist for a week, unless I am of course in Vegas. I think I got to something like skip=400, and that was with skipping over a lot of stuff. By the end of it, my eyes were like "Dear GOD, woman, what the fuck was THAT?"
Anyway. I've basically given up on CSI and WAT. I've accepted that I am never going to watch the last few weeks' worth of episodes, so I might as well give it up and start anew. So I shall tape tomorrow night's episodes and hope that, with the prospect of just one new episode each to watch, I'll actually do it. Instead of going "God, I have four episodes - of each show! - to watch", whining, and then not doing it.
So, yeah. If there is anything of note that happened in the personal lives of the characters over the last few weeks, I would love you guys forever if someone let me know what's up. I don't care that much about the Case of the Week - but if Catherine Willows had sex with someone or Martin Fitzgerald relapsed, that's the kind of thing I'm curious about.
One Tree Hill - I desperately need to remember to tape the next episode. It's the season (series?) finale, for god sakes! So you know damn well I'm probably going to forget it, since that's what I DO. I think my father has tied up the VCR for the time being, so I'm literally setting my tape on top of my purse so there's no way I can leave for work tomorrow without remembering it. Let's keep our fingers crossed on that one.
Sooo, Daytime Emmys....I don't have a clue what the hell happened. I haven't really bothered to check. I did hear a rumble that GH won Best Show or something (*sigh*) and that Tony Geary pulled off Lead Actor. Oh, and that Zimmer took Lead Actress, because all the fangirls on the GH community were freaking out because Kelly Monaco was "ripped off". Other than that, not a clue. Did anybody humiliate themselves? Were there any particularly pretty dresses? Any incredibly shocking wins?
Speaking of soaps....am I understanding this right? Are Sonny and Jason really trying to kill each other? Because if so, then that makes my heart SING. Yeah, I know, nobody will go through with it, and in the end, I'm sure they'll embrace to romantic music and all will be well, but still. Just the THOUGHT of those two possibly killing each other off makes me want to dance.
Another random soap note...am I the only one who hates it when people refer to the actors by their character names? For instance: "I really want Sonny to win the Emmy." Okay, I get it if you don't know the actor's name. But is it that hard to write "the actor who plays Sonny"? I don't know, it's just a pet peeve of mine. I always feel like commenting and saying "Yeah, I doubt Sonny is going to be winning any Emmys anytime soon, considering he's busy with the whole killing people for a living and boinking his latest girlfriend."
God, I am SO BEHIND. Seriously, that's what every single journal entry I've written for the last few weeks has said, isn't it? But it's so true. I haven't even updated my icons, people! You KNOW it's bad when I don't even update icons. Once I get my shit together - which probably won't be until the "season" is over - I need to go in and clean out the icons and start fresh. Because this just feels so wrong.
I'm ridiculously tired, and I'm sure everyone is sick of my massively long entries, but I wanted to get back into the swing of things and talk about recent television:
Miami - I know that this Horatio/Marisol business can't possibly end well, but they are so adorable together that I really want it to. Horatio is just so cute and cuddly when he's in love. Just the way he looks at Marisol with that dopey little smile.....I'm all like, aww, David Caruso, I can't even remember when I used to not like you! I do wish Eric was a little more involved in things, though. If you'd only seen the most recent episodes, you probably wouldn't realize that Horatio is dating his sister.
The Delko/Natalia/Ryan triangle is so stupid and childish that it makes me cringe. Horatio and Marisol are being handled so sweetly, and then....there's this. Eric and Natalia are acting like spoiled brats and Ryan is an oblivious tool in the middle of it all. Nobody is worth rooting for, which I hate, because I thought from the start that Ryan and Natalia could be a cute couple. But with her making cow eyes at Delko, and Delko pouting every time he sees one of them....it's been ruined for me and it hasn't even truly begun.
NCIS - I loved the Abby-centered episode from a week ago. I loved the fact that she handled things like a normal person. She was scared, she hid in the elevator. Typically on crime shows, if someone is in danger, they're either "above it all" or trying their hardest to pretend that they are. And Abby really had no issue with letting everyone know that she was scared. I loved it. I can't believe that when I first started watching, I thought Abby was too over-the-top and found her to be my least favorite character.
We all know how I feel about Tony, but you know something, McGee is working his way up there, slowly but surely. He is so cute and sweet. I loved seeing him take care of Abby, and this week, when he tried to comfort Ziva, I just melted. Quick question, though - do he and Abby have a past? There was all this talk about her toothbrush still being at his place, and it made me wonder.
Scrubs - Cox shaved! I'm so sad. And yeah, I know that wasn't really the point, but still. Scruffy!Cox was kind of hot. Other than that, I don't have much to comment on, besides the fact that I really loved the fact that Kelso dropped the bullshit for a minute and was honest with Perry. Aww! I love Bob Kelso.
SVU - I never did comment on The Big Breakup Episode, did I? I think I'll do that now. I kept hearing that Olivia and Elliot were going to "break up", but I had no idea it would be as powerful as it was. That scene where Lou Diamond Phillips had Elliot at gunpoint was very intense. I won't lie, I teared up. And we all know that I've never been big on the whole "Elliot and Olivia are soooulmates!" thing. But that scene kind of sold me on it. I still think a romance between the two would sink the show, but I really like the way they're handling it. It's like, there is something there, but it's left up to viewer interpretation whether it's an incredibly close friendship or whether it's something more than that. My opinion? I don't think the characters themselves even know. I think Olivia and Elliot are as confused by their feelings as anyone else is. That was driven home to me in this last episode, when Elliot confronted her over the partner change and she said "It's complicated."
This last episode....I thought Anthony Anderson did a great job as Blaine. He was a little over-the-top at first, but as the episode progressed, I began to see that he was a good detective. He just did things differently. Maybe he didn't do things right, but he wasn't an evil or bad man. He wanted to solve his case. He wanted justice for the victim, whomever the victim happened to be.
I ended up feeling sorry for Rudy, because he was so pathetic and sad. And I totally called that Jessica used to be fat herself and that's why she hated fat people. The courthouse shooting....I don't know, the amount of guns that have been getting into that courthouse is starting to become laughable. When Rudy laid eyes on Strahan, who didn't go "Oh, look, he's gonna shoot him"?
The promos for next week also made me laugh. "A case so big, it will bring her back!" Seriously, people, she's been gone a week. And saying she's been gone is really an overstatement, considering we saw more of her than we saw of Munch or Fin (you already know what I think about that, so I won't say it again). If she'd been gone for, say, an entire maternity leave, then I would understand the promo more. But, really.
So, yeah, kinda half-assed reviews, but....getting back into the swing of things. Or something. Maybe.
