I can't believe it's been so long! *waves with an embarrassed grin* I just decided to try and start posting again and now I find it's been so very long. Weell...
So a lot has happened to me since my last posting. My MS ha worsened, though I'm still mobile and mostly able. Sweetie and I bought a house in Oct 2008. We moved in in Nov. and I was let go from my job of 14 years in Dec. due to "lack of work". I also know that they were negotiating new health insurance at the time and rumor is that they fired me because my insurance costs were too high. I'm currently living on unemployment and trying not to go nuts. :)
Our house is just big enough for the two of us, which is nice, and we have a HUGE yard on a corner lot. It sucks that I lost my job because the kitchen functions, but desperately needs a remodel, the front and back doors don't seal (in spite of all our attempts to fix them)and should be replaced, there's no vent in the bath room and the laundry room needs something done to it. All stuff that I have time to do but not the money (admittedly the physical strength and stamina are an issue too but when you can rest or nap when you need to it's much easier). My unemployment and Sweetie's paycheck are enough to pay the bills and eat but there's not much left for other stuff, not to mention the fact that I've no insurance.
The job hunt stinks. Employers' requirements have become ludicrous. They all seem to want a 2 year degree (even for a basic receptionist job...I mean, come on) and 5 years experience, plus you need to have a complete in depth understanding of micro-soft word and experience with business specific software. Makes me want to scream. Tie that in with the fact that I can't do much in the way of physical work and I don't seem very employable.
Sweetie, my friends , my family and my doctors think that I should apply for disability and I could probably get it but applying means no more unemployment (which will run out eventually , I know)and frankly i haven't figured out how we'd survive until it went through. It takes on average 18 month to 3 years. *sighs*
Anyway, sorry for such a long post. See ya.
