The killer thing about these hats - other than it takes twice the time to make a band of reverse linen stitch than it does plain stockingette and oh man am I ready to be done with that - has been getting them fit for photographing. On the right is
Miss Poste's 'The Condemned Man' hat, perfect for avoiding egotistical bookwriters in English country pubs. Honestly, it's been the most straightforward of anything I've worked on lately. Nearly done with the pattern write-up, just working on sizing the smaller versions.
The hat on the left I've
referenced before, and still needs a jaunty, insouciant name. Suggestions are welcome. I'm leaning towards "The Pip-Pip" with the larger gauge version to be called "The Pip" (I can't see anyone other than me wanting to work 250+ stitches on needles more slender than toothpicks - matchsticks maybe but not any smaller). A number of people complimented me on it at the Great Lakes Fiber Show over the weekend and one young lady asked me for the pattern. I've got to get on that. Of course, me being me, all the yarns I've been using for it are discontinued, which is either a plot by
Rowan or Harris Tweed, I can't tell. Possibly it is a plot by a puppeted Rowan with Harris Tweed pulling the strings.
. . .
Rimshot.
