i realized today exactly how much of a nonfunctional adult i really am. taxes omg taxes today. or rather, i watched in a state of bewildered confusion as someone in a nicely designed green office filled out my taxes for me, and then i paid for the service. ummmmm. yes. i've grown up rather sheltered, and have been allowed to dwell in art-school escapism for far too long.
bless the people in the nicely deisgned green offices.
why do i understand economics and banking, but such basic parts of filling out little computer clicky forms for my taxes utterly elude me? at anyrate, i am informed that there is money. and it will be sent to me.
i made lime cheesecake tonight.
there are no more buckminster fuller stamps to be had at the post office. this is disheartening because i like bucky and was looking forward to putting him on an envelope.
i need new musical distractions. suggestions?

List everything that's on your computer desk. I know we all have messy desks, but try to get everything. You can tell a lot about a person from their clutter.
i have a separate desk for projects, which is upholding nature's law of abhorring a vacccuum. my computer resides on a series of shelves from ikea, so the rundown for each shelf is as follows:
shelf no. 1
- 1 bondi blue imac
- 1 epson perfection 1660 scanner
- 1 apple pro keyboard
- 1 zip 250 external drive
- 1 zip disk in the drive, contains backups for all of my icons i've ever made among other things
- 1 apple usb mouse
- 1 faux persian rug mousepad, because it seems to make the mouse happy. rule 28 of graphic design: keep the computer happy.
- assorted cords
- 1 sheet of scribble paper with instructions on how to access my family's voicemail
- 1 empty mug of chai sitting on a saucer. saucer also contains a used green tea bag.
- a two inch high pile of photographs i should scan. has been sitting there since late december.
- 1 sheet of scribble paper with notes for half of the dw icon set. many things are crossed out.
- 3 stacks of writable cds, mostly blank
- cd & case for rasputina's the lost and found 2nd edition
- letter and envelope received today from an old internet friend in california
- 2 origami cranes made from olive garden mint wrappers. the third was probably left with the tip.
- 2 tickets for separate showings of sky captain & the world of tomorrow
- 1 admission tag for the carnegie international. almost matches sweetlyaimless's scarf.
- 1 fortune cookie fortune. it reads: it is better to get something done late than never
- 2 promotional stickers from cd fronts; the faint & rasputina respectively
- 1 cherry branch from fredierick lying ontop of the imac which is holding up:
- 2 letterpress postcards from anti_cyclone: the Buggre All This Bible one and the I'll Do It Later - It Takes A Long Time To Run Out Of Later one
- 1 small padded box containing my baby teeth also sits atop of my imac. some of the teeth have cracked in half due to age. look, it's just better you don't ask.
suspended from the shelf railing
- 5 scarves. what? i like my scarves. they're easy to access here.
- several ribbons, one of which is holding up my emergency numbers badge from npr
- 4 tassels
- 1 faux rose that i wore last spring for the addies.
- 1 strand of vintage flapper beads in silver and blue
- 1 cloved orange which has dried rather than properly cloving
- 1 polyhedra star with mirrored edges, hanging from lamp
shelf no. 2
- 1 epson stylus c62 printer
- 1 iomega external cd burner
- assorted cords connecting to computer below
- stack of 7 zip disks in cases
- 1 lomo action sampler camera, with box
- 1 shiny silver desk lamp
- 1 bottle of silver calligraphy ink from venice(?) florence maybe.
- 1 lego draco malfoy with 1 lego hippogriff. SHUT IT. HOW DO YOU SAY NO TO LEGOS?
- 1 mulder flashlight sitting atop:
- 2 ecksmas card envelopes from jekesta and carmen_lj
- 1 lemony snicket calendar, with count olaf leering greenly out at the world
- er . . . dust? yes, it appears to be dust.
