It reawakens.

So I hear I haven't updated this for $AGES - having just got back from London and being bored here I'll try and put down a bit more info. So, a meme to start with. Stuff about next year and this year to follow.

1. What bill do you hate paying the most?
Since the only one I pay is my college bills and they cost lots, I guess it'll have to be that. Although the cost of getting about London on the Underground has been annoying me for the past week.

2. Where's the best place to eat a romantic dinner?
At home/room - at least, some of the best I've had have been there. There don't even have to be candles and other such things - providing the food is good and the company companionable. Maybe I need to investigate some good places to eat out...

3. Last time you puked from drinking?
Sometime in late second year/early third year. Having not really drunk at all before coming to Cambridge I took it up with perhaps a little too much enthusiasm.

4. When is the last time you got drunk and danced on a bar?
I've never danced on a bar, but there is a part of a bookshelf somewhere on Jesus Lane that will be forever remembered on my forehead.

5. Name of your first grade teacher?
No idea.

6. What do you really want to be doing right now?
Probably also *censored* - right now, I could do with a good idea for solving my project and instant understanding of my courses this term, but I fear that won't be forthcoming. I guess catching up with some of the few people I still know in Peterborough might be good.

7. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I don't think I ever really knew, and I still don't - quoth the History Boys, ``it's one fucking thing after another''.

8. How many colleges did you attend?
Two primary schools, two secondary schools and The King’s College of Our Lady and St. Nicholas.

9. Why did you wear the shirt that you have on right now?
It's a random t-shirt off my floor that looks like it probably hasn't been worn since the last time it was washed *shrug*. I think it's black.

10. Gas prices?
While on the few occasions I have had to pay for petrol it has offended me mightily, listening to the howls of pathetic outrage when petrol gets more expensive I quite enjoy. The question should probably be more how much First Capitalist Connect prices annoy me (raise prices to drive down demand? yeah, that's a public service...).

11. If you could move anywhere and take someone with you?
Geneva is looking good.

12. First thought when the alarm went off this morning?
The alarm is still in my trunk and didn't go off this morning. Which made a nice change from lightningstate's reactionary and unconventional views on bedtimes and getting up times...

13. Last thought before going to sleep last night?
No idea, I can never remember. Like my dreams. So I'll be optimistic and say I was thinking about Claire and London.

14. Favourite style of underwear?
Whatever. I think I bought most of them from M&S though.

15. Favourite style of underwear for the opposite sex?
A lack thereof.

16. What errand/chore do you despise?
I have a bad habit of not doing boring and despised chores. Such as doing the washing up and hanging Claire's washing up when I've not been reminded in the past five minutes. Ironing is right out.

17. If you didn't have to work, would you volunteer at an art gallery?
Much that some part of me wishes I could go into an art gallery and really be able to appreciate art. Or poetry, or music, I just really don't seem to be able to. So maybe it would be a good way of learning, but to be honest I think it would just bore me.

18. Get up early or sleep in?
Laziness tends to answer this question.

19. What is your favourite cartoon character?
I can identify with Stewie...

20. Favourite NON sexual thing to do at night with a girl/guy?
Moonlit walks in the evening in deep conversation? I'd probably settle for a hug though.

21. A secret that you wouldn't mind everyone knowing?
You're not getting any that easily...

22. When did you first start feeling old?
When I first grew a beard, which would probably have been the summer before starting uni.

23. Favourite 80's movie?
I don't know what year most of my movies date from.

24. Your favourite lunch meat?
Beef.

25. What do you get every time you go to the supermarket?
Too much. And often new carrier bags as well.

26. Beach or lake?
A mountain lake in the sun with crystal clear water and a mirror-flat surface wins hands down.

27. Do you think marriage is an outdated ritual that was invented?
The idea of marriage isn't, but the religious connection puts me off. (Although given that I went to a two different church schools and a college that could hardly be said to have nothing to do with religion you might say I'm being a bit hypocritical here).

28. How many people do you stalk on Myspace?
None.

29. Favourite guilty pleasure?
Eating too much of things I know are bad for me? Computer gaming? Lying in bed listening to the Today program? Watching a film when I should be working?

30. Favourite movie you wouldn't want anyone to find out about?
Porterhouse Blue.

31. What's your drink?
Real ale, whisky or G&T (yes, Gordon's).

32. Cowboys or Indians?
Both or neither.

33. Cops or Robbers?
See above.

34. Who from high school would you like to run into?
Would like to run into to see what they're now doing with themselves or to see what complete wastes of life some of them have turned to be to make myself feel more vindicated for being looked down on by then some years ago? Of the former, the usual suspects are Peter, Matt, Clare, Chris, Pete, James. I could probably name a load more I'd be interested in catching up with but I don't know if I ever will.

35. What radio station is your car radio tuned to right now?
Lack of car, but if I did have one it would be listening to radio 4 I'm afraid. Yes, I'm old before my time.

36. Norm or Cliff?
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Query

37. The Cosby Show or the Simpsons?
The Simpsons. But probably neither.

38. Worst relationship mistake that you wish you could take back?
I made some mistakes at school I'm not going to dredge up now.

39. Do you like the person who sits directly across from you at work?
I don't work.

40. If you could get away with it, who would you kill?
I must admit I've thought about this - but I'm not sure I would want to actually pull the trigger on almost anyone, despite a fervent desire for them not to be around anymore. The criterion is probably callous, selfish or malicious use of undeserved power (or possibly being a waste of life).

41. What famous person(s) would you like to have dinner with?
Richard Feynmann? Tim Berners-Lee? Robert Oppenheimer?

42. What famous person would you like to sleep with?
I have no idea.

43. Have you ever had to use a fire extinguisher for its intended purpose?
No.

44. Last book you read for real?
Tom Holt - You don't have to be evil to work here but it helps

45. Do you have a teddy bear?
A stuffed owl, named Wol.

46. Strangest place you have ever brushed your teeth?
When I've been in a sufficiently strange place to count I think my teeth have just remained unbrushed.

47. Somewhere in California you've never been and would like to go?
Everywhere in California. Got to get there at some point.

48. Number of texts in a day?
Single figures. Usually single figures in binary.

49. At this point in your life would you rather start a new career or a new relationship?
Both would be a bit of a pain, although I am starting a new career soon but the existing relationship is intertwined with that.

50. Do you go to church?
No - despite the best attempts of two church schools I've never found anything there.

51. Pencil or pen?
Pen, usually.

52. What do you want to achieve in life?
See Red Dwarf's Inquisitor - I want to be able to judge myself and find myself worthwhile.

53. How old are you?
21.

54. Where do you see yourself when you are 40?
I've got a nasty feeling the answer will be "still in academia". But probably not in Cambridge.
