Bread, Soup, Affordable Housing and Tricky High School Students

So I was browsing throught the Quotations Page, one of my favorite daily haunts, and I was utterly delighted to find that all four of today's quotes were all worth posting. There is a variety here, but at the same time, I sensed a running theme for the Quotations Page today:

"Imagine what it would be like if TV actually were good. It would be the end of everything we know."
-Marvin Minsky

"Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city."
-George Burns (1896 - 1996)

"In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock."
-Thomas Jefferson

"Whatever you may be sure of, be sure of this, that you are dreadfully like other people."
-James Russell Lowell (1819 - 1891)

There's nothing really much to post on so far this week... except that I came thisclose to strangling a child at Woodham yesterday (NO! NOT REALLY! You SICKO.) I just became highly irritated when thre students were attempting to pass notes back and forth to each other right in front of my face. One student tried to be slick, but I figured out his ploy and foiled it before he had a chance to pass another note. The good news is that next week, I will actually be teaching my first lesson in front of REAL 10th grade high school students. Ms. Leggett asked me to teach grammar, so I opted for Dangling and Misplaced Modifiers (my absolute favorite!). I am not as nervous as I thought... this will be cake.

Amanda and I found an apartment for December. We are submittting applications and viewing the unit this week. It's in Creekside. Honestly, I am just glad we found an affordable place with availability. There wasn't much left to choose from in Pensacola. Also, I heard Panera Bread is hiring, so I am considering applying for it and putting in a two weeks' notice with Housing (if I get the Panera job) so that I will have something after graduation. Substitute teaching really won't start up again until January and I cannot go for a month and a half with no paycheck. Besides, I like bread and soup. Some of my favorite foods. Granted, I have never worked in food before, but it's always good to try something new.

That'll do it for now, I think. Ice Pilots and Borat this weekend (hooray for early payday!). Stay tuned.
