I like this sentiment.
I don't know many veterans at all, but damn if I don't appreciate them just the same. They're part of the reason why I dont get all political about war... regardless of whether it is right or wrong, I support the people who are brave and selfless enough to engage in it for our country. I may be against the cause, or I may not, but it is important to remember that while these people carry out the cause, they are NOT the cause. they are people just like us, and they are doing what duty has asked them to. I admire that tremendously.

To me, this is a good reason to be *very* political about war. If we as a country are going to ask them to put themselves on the line, then we owe it to them to not put them at risk unless we have damn good reasons for doing so.

At the same time, I also feel very strongly that just because a war may be politically questionable, that the people fighting it still deserve our respect & support.

Oh, I do see what you are saying. I was talking more about all those people who bitch all the time, refusing to support them because they don't support the war, etc. I don't really think they should be over there, either, but the point is, they currently are, so the least I can do is support them (but not necessarily Bush) until they can be brought back safely. They need to know that we believe in them.

I'm working tomorrow as well, but not for extra ;-)

I plan to kill the shops in Austria. That's how much I <3 shopping. Obviously, I can't get all I like, but I figure the 30 bucks I am making tomorrow will help a little.

My father wasn't in Vietnam... But he's in the reserves now, as is his brother. I don't feel good about that, but that's because I'm selfish and prefer not to have the spectre of them leaving looming above.

Have a nice evening.
