[Background] (nomnomnomdelicious copypasta you must read it)
Chrona's life kind of sucks.
As a child, Chrona was raised to be a killer. Unfortunately, he never became the kind that his mother, Medusa, wanted him to be. Instead of a ruthless and insane murderer, Chrona became a timid and insane murderer, who needed prompting even to defend himself. Such a result was almost to be expected, though, considering there was always someone there to reprimand how he had dealt with the situation, considering Ragnarok, his sentient black blood, could materialize from his back to start hitting him and yelling at him for doing it wrong. Whatever it happened to be this time. However, this was all geared towards Medusa learning about the effects of the black blood in order to revive the Kishin, or the very embodiment of insanity. Years passed, and nothing changed, except maybe Chrona’s mental state going further and further into decline. Ragnarok was still a bully, and Medusa was still a horrible, scientifically-driven mother.
However, after a number of events that led to interaction with members of Shibusen, the school for humanform weapons and their technicians, Chrona met one Maka Albarn. He had fought against her once before, in a battle which ended with a horrific injury on her partner, Soul, and Chrona being taken back (unconscious) by his mother. In their second battle, Maka was able to look within Chrona's soul and understand its wavelength enough to pull him from insanity, now with the knowledge that he had never experienced contact that wasn't violent. She hugged him, and the fight ended. The fact that someone cared enough to pull him out of this mindset of fear and worthlessness was not only enough to bring him to tears, but also to go against the wishes of his mother, and join up with Shibusen as Maka's friend. The Kishin was revived somewhere around this time, but life went on, and there were new enemies to face.
So that's exactly what he did. He was now free from his mother (who, presumably had been killed by the adults, Stein and Spirit, fighting against her at the time) and thus could try to become a normal student. However, he still clung to Maka, and Maka didn't seem to mind too much, since they were now friends. After an event at Shibusen, though, Medusa revealed herself once more, only this time in the hijacked body of a child. Convincing Chrona that he was the mole who would give her information about what Shibusen was doing, Chrona was no longer able to enjoy this new life, not with the knowledge that he was really betraying all of his newfound friends. He even drives one of his professors, Stein, to insanity by planting the magic that Medusa gave him.
However, he finally decides that he'll refuse to continue this, and runs away from Shibusen in order to protect the people there from anything else Medusa might try. However, he fails, and ends up falling into a hole, and he doesn't move from that spot (hoping that nobody will find him) until Maka and Soul come looking for him. Maka tries to convince him to come back, and Chrona ends up admitting to being Medusa's spy, however unwilling he may have been to fulfill that role. Maka forgives him, hugs him again, and takes him back to Shibusen, where the adults feel that are forced to confine him for his betrayal.
However, because he is later expelled for this same transgression, he is able to fight against Medusa (who had joined with Shibusen for a short while to meet goals of her own, and kidnap Stein, the professor that had been driven to insanity), along with Stein's partner, Marie. Because Medusa kidnapped this professor, Chrona goes in order to try and save him with Marie, as some sort of repentance for his previous actions. While he's successful in finding Medusa, the final battle for everyone is approaching, and every member of Shibusen had been deployed in order to fight against the insanity that was slowly creeping up on them after the revival of the Kishin Ashura.
Maka had become determined to find Chrona once again after he left, and found him just as he was about to be killed by his own mother (who had not been able to regain her own body after her "death," and was still using the body of a child to stay connected to the world of the living). Maka finding him led to a battle of Marie against Stein (the professor that had been driven to insanity, whom they had come to rescue from both insanity and Medusa) and Chrona and Maka against Medusa.
However, it seemed at the time that Medusa had a move that would kill Maka, but before the hit could connect, Chrona took the blow for Maka, putting him out of commission, and into a coma. Thinking he was dead, Maka lashed out at Medusa, but was eventually able to take Medusa down with an attack that struck through only to evil, and thus the little girl who's body Medusa had overtaken was left unharmed.
Stien vowed to bring Chrona back to life, as Marie had been able to free him from insanity, and Chrona had tried his best to atone for what he had done, although, at this point, Chrona is still in his coma.
[Personality](nomnomnommore copypasta. This will probably make you fat. Too many carbs in your diet. And words.)
Chrona’s real personality belies the insanity he’s often afflicted with. Chrona is timid, and almost always motivated by some form of fear, be it fear of his mother’s punishment, fear of doing something wrong, or fear of not being strong enough. Despite this, he doesn’t really have a sense of what other people consider to be creepy, and he even goes as far as to say that he hates weird and creepy things, even though these sorts of words can often describe his demeanor fairly well. His speaking style tends to be monotonous, and a little disjointed, again, because Chrona is kind of insane. Chrona's been made to kill whatever his mother told him to for most of his life, so the value he places on life is a bit skewed. Even so, Chrona doesn't really like to fight, and often needs prompting to even defend himself.
However, his overall personality has changed immensely since he’s been at Shibusen. He’s not completely rid of the insanity that he’s had to find some way to deal with all his life (and that fact will probably never change) but he’s actually able to smile now, in a non-creepy non-fueled-by-insanity way. He's also grown really attached to Maka, and she (along with the other friends he had made because of her) became his reason to leave Shibusen in order to fight Medusa.
He’s improving, or at least he’s trying.
[Specialties/Abilities] DID YOU KNOW HIS BLOOD IS BLACK.
[Affection] Chrona probably doesn't know how to deal with affection.
[Fighting] It wouldn't be a good idea. Now that Medusa is gone (or is she?) he won't want to fight anyone. And he's deeply disturbed by the lack of his symbiotic weapon. However, some of the toughness of the black blood has carried over to Somarium. He probably won't be able to be cut, at least not by normal methods.
