So I think I've finally made the jump to $10+1 No Limit Hold'Em tournaments online.
I've been consistently placing 2nd or 3rd in the $5+0.50 tournies and it's not raising my cash flow up at all.
So far so good. I took a 5th (out of 10) in my first go at the higher buy-in, but the next two I got 2nd and 3rd respectively, earning me a decent $28 profit (along with my $22 buy-ins back).
Cowboys (pocket kings for you poker newbs) have won me some big pots, I think I hit them 5 times in the game I took 3rd place in.
Have definitely noticed some holds in my game - I usually sit by patiently and wait for the suckers to lose out, but down to 4-6 players and unless I have hit some nice cards I am short stack. I've been lucky (good?) enough to take the right spots and stay in the cash, but even when I have a chip lead, I'm letting the shorter stacks get back into the game. This is probably why I am not owning up our smaller games on Sundays - need to work on the short stack punishment.
Somebody remind me to cash out all but $16.50 (my original investment) when I get over $100 again (I'm at $59.80). Last time I got up over $120 and two days later I was down at $20.
Maybe it's time to jump back into the limit game for a bit...
