Our small business in NY got a recorded call from a company called Merchant Circle today claiming someone local had left negative feedback about us on their small business reviews site. I googled it before going to the website.
Not only is this a scam to get businesses to sign up with them for the privilege of finding out what was said, but there is also a counter scam going around claiming that the negative reviews about them are false and originate from one company or person. Joy.
FYI - doing a google on them revealed that they're pissing off a lot of people with this telemarketing scam. Congrats guys, way to get a good reputation in the business world!
I'd also like to point out that comments purporting to be from the CEO of the company are out there trying to justify this companies behavior. Um HUm. Whether the comment is from the CEO or not, I'm not impressed. I understand the business may have had a good motive or idea from the startup, but whatever it is now is pure slime.
So, you may ask, how did i get on this telemarketing list? I don't know, and to get off of the list I have to contact them and give them my business information. Hmmm... methinks I smell a rat, especially as further research reveals that they don't honor their Do Not Call list.
Another shining example of business ethics. I'd link to some of these sites, but you can just Google them yourself and enjoy. Some of the comments get quite creative.
