i had an interview yesterday for a new temporary job. they liked me so much they offered me the position, and i start on monday! i will be filling in for their admin who is out on maternity leave, and may only be a 2-3 month assignment. which is perfect! i'm only here for another 2-3 months.
i am so excited to work somewhere where i'll actually have work to do. the people at this new place of employment are super nice, and the kind of people i am used to working with. they have that "office family" mentality and environment. they have senses of humor! they're also not grouchy old men and a creepy dude (like current job). another plus is that it is super close to home, and within walking distance of mandi and maren's house. yay.
in other news, a shooting occured 2 blocks from our apartment yesterday; about 20 minutes before i came home. when i stepped off the bus i was wondering what all the helicopters hovering around mission street was all about. the mission has gotten so bad. ick. i'm so glad to be out of here soon.
Four injured in Mission District shootout
Tuesday, March 8, 2005
Four people were wounded, one critically, in a San Francisco shootout that witnesses described as a gun battle between two carloads of people this afternoon.
At least two people were taken into custody and police were searching for an orange Chevrolet Camaro allegedly involved in the Mission District shooting, according to San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens.
The names of those arrested were not immediately released.
The 2:40 p.m. incident looked and sounded "like the Wild Wild West," said an employee at the Rolling Stock auto parts store in the 600 block of South Van Ness Avenue, near the shooting scene.
Another man said he heard at least 20 gunshots and automatic gunfire.
Moments later, he said he saw an apparently wounded man stagger down Van Ness Avenue.
Police said a white Chevrolet Impala involved in the shootout was found at the scene.
Shortly after the incident, investigators closed off a large section of the street and sidewalks with yellow tape.
