*sigh* Another miserable work week.
Thanks to the economy, gas prices, and festival season (rural Ohio we have like a new festival every week through late May to early August) I have been called off today. What does this mean for me?
It means for the past two weeks I’ve had one 6 hour shift a week.
Shit.
I think the most money I’ve made in the last month was about $45 in a night. And I know it’s not just me in my restaurant. Our GM cut the floor down to 6, with 2 going at 7p.m. is business doesn’t pick up. A buffet capacity on a Friday night and he’s cut the floor to 4. that should tell everyone how bad it is. No one is getting doubles because their trying to spread the hours evenly. And even when you are on the clock tips are unlikely. People just can’t afford it any more.
I know I can’t be the only one out there feeling the pain of recession. But the thing is I’m tired of it. I want there to be something I can do, something proactive. I work for my Drawing III class as nude model, but that paycheck (aprox. $400-$500) only comes once a quarter. And right now $500 doesn’t last that long. My girl has a decent job right now, but it’s only part time until she graduates and they have been calling her off work at the restaurant as well. And I feel bad. I feel bad that I right now can not make as much as she has the potential to do.
But what are you gonna do? Buckle down, spend as little as possible only when necessary, and wait it out. *groan*
