I've been working hard with Coop to perfect his stay. He has a great duration stay and a decent distance stay. But, we've been having some trouble with stay if I broke line of sight with him so for the past several weeks I had been working on just stepping around a corner and returning with a treat. I had been trying to go slow because I knew it was difficult for him and I didn't want to set him up for failure.
Today, I was heading to the basement to grab something I needed and Coop was accompanying me when I suddenly remembered Rob had left some sealant out that I didn't want him to be exposed to. So, I told him to stay and he froze mid-stair with half his body on one. I went through the door, shutting it behind me and went to grab the laundry detergent figuring Coop would probably be long gone to bask in the sun and that I'd need to accept it as a one-time failure on my part. But, when I came back, he was still in his half stair stay position! He got such a big jackpot for that. I was so excited for him!
On a side note, I'll throw in a picture of Coop trying to hold all of his squirrels in his mouth. Because, I thought it was pretty funny.
