Happy Birthday to me!!
Well, it was actually a week ago, but who's counting? ;D
I've been very spoilt this year. My wonderful friends took me out to two lunches, two dinners and a weekend away at the snow. *Very* spoilt!
But it strikes me that my friends are just that: *my* friends. They're not particularly friendly with each other, even though they do occasionally meet up because of me. Why is this so? Do I pick friends with such diverse interests & occupations that they can't get along with others without me to mediate? Or is it me? Am I such a social butterfly that I *try* to keep them apart, on the 'more for me' principle? Hmmm... I don't think so, but it's something to think about.
Back on track... Thredbo was wonderful! I hiked, skiied and, yes, I tried snowboarding! (Kate, if you're reading this, pick yourself up off the floor, go into the kitchen and get yourself a large glass of water before you die laughing!! ;D)
On the way up to the snow we stopped off in Jindabyne for supplies (*much* cheaper than in Thredbo) and I noticed a little gallery exhibiting photos. I wandered in, and was absolutely flabbergasted to see the owner... Michael Lees! I remember Mike as a dorky nerd who sat next to me in English in high school. *God* has he changed. He's gorgeous! And an internationally renowned photographer! And gorgeous! ;D
He very sweetly gave me a bunch of unframed photos that weren't quite up to 'shop' standard (not that I could tell what was wrong with them) and some very pretty post-packs... anyways, I've sent a batch on their way to all of you. Pumpkin, Y and Amber, you ladies should have a lovely surprise next week (considering the vagaries of Australia Post!) Kristy, I'll bring yours with me the next time I visit (not that I'm sure you'll ever read this, I don't even think you know about ljs, still better safe than sorry!)
Back on the topic of birthdays, specifically mine ;D, I was gloating over my presents when I realised that they were all... eerily similar. A case of wine, five bottles of alcohol, four boxes of chocolate (three were Lindt, my favourite!!) a book and a book voucher! My friends know me so well! Yes, I *am* a chocoholic lush, thank you very much!!
